Disappointments

I knew the defending Champs would prevail...but ain't nothing wrong with silently hoping the young Thunders could roll and create an upset...well as Kevin Durant say "it's not the end of the world". You are right young fellow, there us always next season and the season after that...they are young team and they can go far and I am not disappointed with them at all. I am however disppointed with Denver and Dallas...man I had such high hopes but the better team won. Caron Bulter played great in game 5 and Dirk was fantastic in game 6...Spurs on the other hand is coached by Greg Poplovic and Tim Duncan not mention Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili...

Anyways, I hope Atlanta will not let me down although the Bucks seems to be on a roll. Josh Smith and the guys will need to step big...real big...

P.S Lakers gonna win again.....

Cramped Up Mind

It's been so long since my last blog. Anyways, so much as happened since. I have lost 15 pounds, my hair is now natural and Antoine has gotten so big. Earthquake in Haiti, man so close to home...Oh and Obama has been vey and PM Bruce Golding is getting on every Jamaicans nerves. There is so much to say and you know me there is always something on my mind.

Just think what America can do to us if our Prime Minister don't hand over Dudus...Boy, Bruce is stuck betwwen a rock and a hard place...I feel your pain but I can't help you.

As bad as America may be ya'll know I will always love my basketball. It's the NBA Playoffs and things are looking pretty decent so far. Miami down 3-0 to Boston..boooooo...I am not a Celtics fan so come Miami bring on some Heat. Cleveland look to have their series lock but I wouldn't count off the Bulls just yet. Denver a bit disappointing but it's not over. All season long San Antonio seems so out of sync but if I were Dallas I would be a bit worried (just a bit..for now that is). Brandon Roy just fresh out of surgery and back on the court like "what injury". The Thunders those young guys are bringing it to the defending Champs...can they take the series? I don't think so but then again this is the NBA where amazing happens and anything is possible. Oh and Orlando look to sweep the new comers Bobcats and Atlanta have their eyes set on the second round. So much to say with so little time.

I haven't blog in awhile. I have been so busy lately I even lost track of time. Can you believe the year is all over and it's soon 2010...man I have to admit time is flying. Antoine is so big and boy is he driving me crazy. Work is murder...but i have to hang in there for how long?...I have no idea. Basketball id back in action...ah I have got to get my cable back. Hell...this $@#! is getting to me. Delta is killing me...2 months with no night sleep will make anybody go crazy..as a atter of fact go mad, cuz that is what I am going thru right now. Hey, but one have to work in order to provides for one's family. Anyways, Delta is the least. I love how the Andiamo...or should I say former Andiamo employees stay so scarce. I miss Andiamo...you the freedom to work in an environment that is comfortable and and oh well...suits me. I still love basketball and seeing tha season has ended I don't have much to blog about...lol. I wonder what Paul have been up to lately? I have been reading ya'll blogs but ya'll don't update as much lately either, so...so yeah i chat too much that is why I always blog...lol...but ya'll know me I always have something to say. Man have I been tired lately. Delta is killing me. Right now I am at work, my shift ends at 1:30am and I can't leave to go home bcause there is no drive. What a drag....I know I can't give up? Who said i was. By the way i was so caught up in the NBA the last time I blog I so forgot to mention my condolences to the Jackson family. Damn, it's a shame Michael had to die the way he did....it was devastating. I loved his music. I love a lot of singers, but if I have to choose my favourite male singer of all times it would be MJ. Despite the fatc that he died this way and all that have been said about him, it's fair to admit that he had moonwalked across alll our hearts. I guess it's safe to say that everyone's favoutite album is "Thriller", it was release in 1982 and is still the world's best-selling ablum of all times (incase you didn't know). No matter what people say MJ is the King of Pop and a legend. MJ had a notable impact on music and culture throughout the world. He broke down racial barriers, transformed the art of the music video and paved the way for modern pop music. In 1984 he was inducted onto the "Hollywood Walk of Fame", he has won 13 grammys, etc, etc, and the list goes on. He is he Michael Jordon of music, lol. I just wish that his children will be okay and well taken care of.....speaking of them I wish Janet gets to take them. Peace out.

Been A While

It's been a long time since my last post. A lot have happened since then and I don't know where to start. First and foremost as you all know by now the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Championship and Kobe won the Finals MVP (of course), adding another piece of hardware to his name. Like I asked at the end of last season did the Boston Celtics have what it takes to win the Title again. Well, did they?....I guess not cause if they did they wou\ldn't havebeen booted by the Orlando Magics. what was even more surprising was that the Magics not only showed up the Cs they embarrassed Lebron and Cavaliers. As for all who have read my blog I was hoping for a Cavs/Lakers Finals but it teh game of basketball and anything can happen as it was demonstrated in the 2009 Playoffs. Enough on the Finals, now that the season is over alot of teams will be looking to stack up for next season. Detroit Pistons have already started their big move after the whole Iverson deal went sour. they have landed free agents Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva which is a very impressive move I might add. The Bullls however will have a big shoes to fill now that Gordon is gone. Shaq and Lebron on the same team....5 years ago I would be estatic by the news but not so much now. The Lakers still have a decision to make about Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza....in my hearts of heart I hope they keep them both. That's it for now, peace.he

Taj McWilliams-Franklin

Working on Delta has been very stressful and at time I felt like just giving up. Last night while I was at work everything was all stressed. At around 4 o'clock in the morning I got a call from a lady who wanted to book a flight. I took the call like every other calls. When I asked the caller for her name she stated that her name was Taj McWilliams. I proceeded with the call on trying to get the caller the best service possible while fight the urge to sleep. Upon asking her for her credit card info, I ask her for her name as it appears on the card and she stated it was Taj McWilliams-Franklin, that when it hit why the name Taj McWilliams sounded familiar. So I being as nosy as I am I asked her if she was the Taj McWilliams-Franklin the WNBA player. Guess what she said yes, I wanted to die...I wanted to scream and tell her I am a fan. But remembering that I was at work I controlled myself and got her the service she requested. OK, for those of you who have not the slightest ideas who she is, let me give you a break down.....

Taj McWilliams-Franklin is an American professional female basketball player. She is a 6ft. 2in forward playing for the Detroit Shocks in the WNBA (Women National Basketball Association). She was drafted by the Orlando Miracles in 1999. She is 2008 WNBA Champion, 2004 US Women's Senior National Team, 2005 All-WNBA Defensive Team, 2005 KIm Perrot Sportsmanship Award, 6 times WNBA All-star, 2005 and 2006 All-WNBA Second Team and was named Player of the Week twice in 2006. Omg...I didn't know that they book their own flights and thing I always thought they have people who do those things for them. Just imagine if I get a call from Lisa Leslie or Kobe, Lebon or even Dwade....I can tell you this that call from Taj made my day.

Lakers Takes A 2-0 Lead

I as much a fan of Dwight Howard as I am of Kobe, Lebron, Wade and the other guys. His game brings back memories of Shaq in his early days and as he evolves he will no doubt in my mind become just as dominant as the big guys before him. The question still remains:Can he lead the Magic to an NBA Title? Sure he is surrounded by the likes of Hedo Turkuglu, Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson and so on, but do they have what it takes to come back from a 0-2 deficit to win the title. Ask this question a year from now and I think my answer will be yes. Not this year, why you might ask...and my answer is Kobe is hungrier this year than any other year. You see Kobe is at that stage of his career when retirement comes knocking and he wants to prove to the basketball world that he can win a title without Shaq. The Lakers have found a way to control Dwight in the paint, but somehow the Magics are yet to find and answer for Kobe. The problem for the Magics too is that Kobe's role players are playing great basketball as well. In the overtime win last night Pau Gasol stepped up and along with Kobe spoils the Magics Game 2 comeback and they might just spoils the Magics chance of winning a title. Lakers have what it takes to sweep the series. Magics will be looking to come back at home, we'll just have to wait and see......

At home and bored out of my wits. Last night was my first taking calls for Delta. It was okay, considering.....I just need to get a hang of the systems and all else will fall into place...sigh...I hope. I got about 5 hours sleep when I got in this morning, did some laundry and cook. I am wanting of so much things and in order for me to have them or accomplish my dreams I will have to work very hard at it. I have so little time before I reach 30 to accomplish my goals. I have to split my time between my goals and Antoine. He is the main reason I am working so hard. I want nothing more than for him to be happy. He is such a jovial little boy, also laughing. He has developed this close bond with my brother and people always thing that Antoine is his son. Every time that Antoine hears a bike he think it's my brother coming. When Boom comes to visit Antoine is all excited, but when he leaves, all hell breaks lose. Boom has this love for bikes and Antoine has developed that love as well. They are like best friends. I happy though cause seeing that his dad is not around, I am happy that he will have a male role model to look up to.

Dwight Howard Out Shined Lebron James

At the end of last season I ask the question if Boston could repeat and the attitude and mentality of the team suggested they could. As I stated the saga would continue, and continue it did. After the way it ended all would have bet their last dollar that we would witness a Celtics-Lakers Finals this time around. Somehow even though I suspected that this could be true, my love for Lebron James and Kobe Bryant have me dying for a Finals match-up between the two players who have been said to "be like Mike". As the Playoff draw to a close it was quite clear that what I had hoped for would be or so I thought along with the millions who thought the same. Who would have thought that the Orlando Magics would be this resilient. On the real I never expected this, it was no surprise that they could play like this, but to be in the Finals....now that was unexpected. You know how we are always trying to compare players to the great Michael Jordan well nothing is wrong with that...just know there will never be another MJ. Dwight Howard reminds me of Shaquille Oneal. They were both drafted by the Magics, both adapted the nickname Superman, both played with the same dominance of the paint, both have brought the Magics to the NBA Finals. You may argue that Dwight is not as dominance as Shaq, but Dwight is still young and have a lot more development to go through. Jordan have left his legacy in the able hands of the likes of Kobe, Lebron, Dwade, as so....Now it's safe to say the Shaq can be confident to leave his legacy safely the hands of Dwight Howard. The last time the Orlando Magics were at the Finals was 1995 when Shaq dominance took them there. Like Shaq, Dwight have done the same. The one question now is....Can Dwight lead the Magics to an NBA Championship? He will have to go through Kobe and his gang, but I can tell after winning against the Celtics and Cavs I bet he his confidence level is as high as a kite.

Cleveland Cavaliers lost only one home game all season to the Los Angeles Lakers, so it was in all fairness that everyone thought that only the Lakers could beat them. Seeing that the Cavs had home court advantage throughout the Playoffs they would not meet the Lakers until the Finals, so again speculations was that they would get to the Finals. As for my usual routine I choose who I want to see in the Finals at the start of the season. Even though I maybe a fan of a lot of players or even teams I stick with my choice....that's until they are out, then I choose another team to support cause as you know it the NBA and you can't stop watching until the season ends. Well, I wanted Kobe and Lebron to face off in the Finals. I still do. But the way things are looking right now it could be a Denver/Orlando Finals, which I will not be disappointed to watch seeing that I am a hugh Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony fan as well. Who would have thought that the Magics would be 3-1 up on Cavaliers? Better yet, who would have guess that the Magics would be the one to eliminate the Defending Champs Boston Celtics? I didn't....I am not not gonna lie. I anticipated that they would be on the Playoffs and get past the first round but not the conference finals, better yet the Finals. This is where history comes into play cause the Cavs will have to go into the history books in order to overcome a 3-1 deficit to win the series and to be honest I don't see that happening. I know it the NBA and to expect the unexpected, but the way the Magics are playing they ain't gonna make it easy for them and if they do come back and win the series they will be too tired to compete to their full potential in the Finals. Dwight is showing some leadership which he lack a year ago and the more mature he get the better his game will be....which is scary when you think about it. Shaq won't have to worry cause Dwight will be the new Superman and his legacy will live on. How can one not love the game of basketball or the NBA.

Miss Me?

A lot have happened since my last post....miss me? I know...lol. Anyways work is the same, stress as usual nothing new. Training for the new account is okay so far, I have passes all three tests so far and have final one coming Friday....I hope pass that one as well. I wish I didn't have to go through all this, but it's all apart of the game I guess. Antoine is great growing and learning. Too bad his dad is missing the best parts of his life....his decision not mine. He is the one who messes around and choose not to be apart of our lives, so it's his lost. Oh well, life goes on and Antoine will grow to be the best he can be if it's the last thing I do.

The Lakers takes games 3 and Denver is looking to get them back in games 4. I still can't believe that the Magics beat the Cavs at home...wow who would have thought. I am still holding my ground Lakers and Cavaliers for the Finals...won't change my mine...well until Denver or Orlando can pull the inevitable. I have to tip my hats to Denver and what they have accomplished this season, Orlando as well and to think we thought they wouldn't get far without Jameer Nelson. It's the way of the NBA, expect the unexpected.

My Mind Wondering Again

Today is a sad day for me. The account/program that I work on is closing. I am sad because I will no longer will be working with the guys. We get on each other nerves but it was fun while it last. I am going to miss them....sniff. Tracy, my manager, I have worked with her for 3 years and 5 months and we have been through so much and I hate the fact that we will part. She have though me so much. I guess we all have to go through something like this once in a while. Now I am faced with waiting to see what will become of my services with the company. With the current situation the economy is in I can't afford to be out of a job. Well I have to just sit and await my verdict. I have to just trust all will work out for the best. The best to way to wait is to occupy my mind with something else.

Let's see what's on this wondering mind of mine. Antoine is getting bigger and he is more active than ever. Last week while I was on vacation he was in the yard playing. I heard him say "mark, go, run, run, run" and was running like crazy. I told him to stop the running, but that just fell on deaf ears and off he went. The outcome, he fell and hit his head and cut the top of his left eye. I don't know if he thinks he is Usain Bolt or Asafa Powell, cause that little boy refuse to walk. I also showed him how to turn on and take pictures with the digital camera....big mistake. Now he is take pictures of everything....which is a all a blurr. I got a laptop and showed him how to turn it on and you can only guess how that's going. He even knows how to turn on the DVD player and put in the DVD. He is a fast learner. I always teach him how to turn them on and then tell him not to touch them.....poor me.

Last night Carmelo Anthony and his Denver Nuggets took Game 2, now the light at the tunnel gets brighter. The question still remains can they make it to the Finals? They are proving to be a force to be reckon with. Carmelo have waited so long for this and I just know he won't disappoint. Cleveland took a 1-0 lead over Atlanta behind the raining MVP King James 34 points and 10 rebound. I have been saying I want a Lakers/Cavs finals but I wouldn't be too disappointed if it turns into Cavs/Nuggets finals. I don't think Melo gets as much props, but he is showing his stuff and it looks good. Can the Lakers even the series? Kobe won't roll over so easily I know that much. Can Orlando surprise Boston by taking game 2? I wonder in which direction the tables will turn.

Round 2

Surprises, surprises.....some not as surprising as some, but they are in the end. Second round of the NBA Playoffs and some things are going my way and some are not. Now as you may know I choose the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers to face off in the Finals from the start of the season, and I am still sticking with my choice until one of them loses out. Now everyone had speculated the Houston Rockets were the team to beat the Lakers in the West and so far no team looks good enough to beat the Cavaliers. Last night the Rockets copped game 1 at the Staples Center which proves the analysts right. That puts a dent in the Lakers plan.....just a dent and nothing more. It will take more than winning game 1 to stop Kobe and I can bet he will come back in game 2 unstoppable. It's not over until the fat lady sings.

Orlando on the the other hand held of the defending Champs Boston Celtics to take game 1, now that was surprising. Can they upset and eliminate the Defending Champs? Hmmm.....that's an intriguing thoughts. It's the NBA and one must learn to always expect the unexpected. No one expected the Bulls to take the Celtics to game 7 and surely no one suspected Dallas to eliminate the Spurs, so anything is possible at this point in time. Denver is up 1-0 on Dallas and I am confident that they will make it to the Conference Finals and with the way they are playing I won't be too surprise if they get to the Finals. Now don't say I am way ahead of myself cause we all know everything can change (finger snap) just like that. I wonder how the Cavs will fear tonight against the Hawks. Win no doubt, but then again anything can happen. Atlanta in my opinion can run with the Cavs. But the big question is: Can they stop Lebron James? Well, it would be impossible to him stop in for 48 minutes but if they can limit him somehow, they might stand a slight chance. They will have to let Mo and the rest of the guys beat them if they hope to win even 1 game in this series. I am not too worried about the Cavs as I am worried about the Lakers. Sure Kobe is a competitor and he will bring it night after night, but can the rest of the team be as competitive as he is. Then again it all boils down to who have the better supporting cast.

Is The Bulls Making A Return

Young and agile, are they the remake of the Bulls of the 90's. Derrrick Rose sure ain't no Jordan, but he has revitalized the Chicago Bulls and now they are taking the Defending Champions Boston Celtics to a game 7. Can they win, with the way they are playing they have every chance of winning. Words just cannot explain the fight the Bulls are putting up.

Denver Golden After All These Years

I was right when I said that Denver was not to be overlooked. The Denver Nuggets have capped their first Playoff Series since 1994. Carmelo Anthony for the first time in his career is moving pass the first round with the help of Chauncey Billups, no doubt. Not taking anything away from Allen Iverson, but he was more into playing and getting paid than winning a ball game. Chauncey happens to be a native of Denver if you didn't know, anyways they say a picture is worth a thousand words but in this case a video is worth a million. The Nuggets held Chris Paul to 4 points in Game 4...can you believe that 4 points, damn. The Hornets made history though, they had the worst Playoffs lost since 1956 when the St. Louis Hawks lost to the Minneapolis Lakers by 58 points, they too lost by 58 points. You think that was any better they went down 21 points in Game 5. It was a tough series technical fouls were being issued like it was personal fouls...I bet Jerry Sloan wish he was coaching these guys cuz they were as tough as they come.

The Cavs swept the Pistons, no surprises there. Lakers beat the Jazz 4-1 and Jerry Sloan was mad as hell, literally. Dallas beat the Spurs 4-1, while Houston sent the Trailblazers home 4-2. Orlando whopped the Sixers without Dwight Howard who was suspended from elbowing Samuel Dalembert, surprisingly though Sixers Andre Miller thought the Magic played better without him....ironic ain't it. Atlanta is heading into game 6 with a 3-2 lead over Miami, while the Bulls (who like the Atlanta last year) is taking the Celtics for a game 7 after last night triple overtime win.

I told you the Playoffs are excited and that to always expect the unexpected. It's the NBA where the amazing happens. I can't wait for round 2.....I hope it's as excited and entertaining as round 1.

Annoyed

I am losing it, I need a break....everything annoys me lately. I need a time out or something to recuperate and what not. I hate being like this but I guess it's a phase we all go through from time to time, especially when we are over worked and all. There is so much going on in life it's overwhelming. My only escape is my wondering mind. Whenever I want to escape the hassle that this life toss at me I let my mind wonder and dream. I just take myself to that other place where I can be at peace. It's a shame though but I haven't been able to do that lately so I hope I will be able to do so on my upcoming vacation. Trust work as not been much fun for me so a much needed break is well desiring. Besides my son and work the only other thing that keeps me occupied is basketball.....weird huh.

(BTW Coach Mike Brown(Cleveland Cavaliers) won the Coach of the year and Dwight Howard(Orlando Magic) became the youngest player to win Defensive Player of the year.)

You they say the mind can be a dangerous place, but if you should go to mind you'd be bored to death. My son, work, plans I have for the next 5 years and basketball is all that's seems to be on my mind these pass few weeks. My life have been pretty dull lately and I find myself liking it. I have been burned so to speak by so many people that I feel it's time I start living a more secluded life. Maybe I am just overworked, or maybe I am at that stage where I start to choose my friends wisely. I don't know maybe it's the fact that I am moving closer to 30 and that little light is starting to peep over the horizon.

Off To A Promising Start

Well, I guess ya’ll already know what’s on my mind…..yep you guess it…..basketball baby. Everything is going as I hoped it would so far. Lakers won 113-100 over the Jazz. Trevor Ariza shone like a star and as you know Kobe did his thing. Cavaliers whopped the Pistons no surprises there as Lebron showed his stuff. Dallas (a little surprising) beat the Spurs….yeah they whopped their Ginobili-less butt. Dirk and Josh Howard were superb. Houston beat the Trailblazers who had no answer whatsoever for Yao Ming. Let’s see oh Orlando gave up a 20 points lead at the half and was severely beaten by the Sixers. Wade was only limited to 19 points as the Hawks overpowered the Heat. Denver have obtained home court advantage for the first time in 21 years.....yeah that’s right 21 years. Chauncey Billups lived up to his name Mr. Bigshot, he had a career high 8 3-pointers in the game as they bulldozed the Hornets 113-84. However my most surprising highlight for the weekend was Derrick Rose’s performance against the guess who…..yeah that’s right, the Defending Champions the Boston Celtics. They said that Rose is a Rookie but he didn’t play like one. He did something Michael Jordan did not do and that was beat the Celtics in the Playoffs oh and he tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record with 36 points in his playoff debut, while dishing out 11 assist in an overtime victory over the Celtics who might have do without the Big Ticket Kevin Garnett throughout the Playoffs .

Now all the teams that I expected to win, Lakers and Cavs, won and all the teams that I hoped to win, won except the Heat and Magic. It’s not over until the fat lady sings. This was just Game 1 of the first round, who knows what will happens. But you know I will be watching keenly. This looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the most memorable Playoffs…..wait a sec they are memorable….oh well it’s gonna be amazing.

Playoffs In The Air

Finally!!!!! It's here the NBA Playoffs......I am happy, are you? Will it be Lakers and the Cavs(I hope so) or maybe a rematch of last year's finals. KG(Kevin Garnett) might be out for the season.....tough but I think we all know that without KG the Celtics will be very shaky. I won't be surprise if the Bulls battle them down to the wire. The Bulls have been playing lately is very impressive....they're no Bulls of the 90's....but they look promising. Detroit is worried cause Lebron is going to the finals and no team can stand in his way not even the C's.

I still cannot believe that Allen Iverson stated that he rather retire than come off the bench. No wonder he is still yet to win a ring. Sacrifices will have to made in order to succeed and if he is that unwilling to make any he will not never get that hardware. I know Chris Webber, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, and all the superstars and greats of the league wish they had won a ring at least once in their careers. Gary Payton and Alzono Mourning made the sacrifice and it paid off. He should use the America's 2008 Olympic Team as motivation. If Dwade, Howard, Lebron, Kobe(especially Kobe) can sacrifice being the main man for the greater good, then he can do the same and get a championship. Oh well, he is a grown ass man who knows right from wrong and if this the road he wants to travel, then who are we to be judgmental.

Anyways.....playoffs is in the air and it the best time of the season for me, so I will be watching extensively. Lakers vs Cavs who will win I don't know and I would be happy if either team wins. Kobe needs to prove he can win without Shaq and Lebron needs to prove he can be like Mike. But when all is said and done they are both Hall of Famers and will both go down in history as 2 of the greatest basketball players of all times.

The Return of Bynum

Andrew Bynum is back, yeaaaaaaah. 16 points and 7 rebound not shabby for a guy who's just coming off the injury list. He looks good and now you can say the Lakers got their swagger back. I like Andrew's game....he's no Shaq, yet....he have a lot of years to prove his worth.

Many races, cultures and nations celebrate Easter in many different ways while staying through to the death of Christ.

Easter in Jamaica is a feast of bun and cheese. Maxfield, Yummy, etc bun with a tin of taste cheese is the best gift to give on Easter in Jamaica, with that you can never go wrong, lol. But bare in mind with the way the economy set up bun is expensive. We use to get free bun at work, but them feel the pressure cause the budget can't cover it, so we are bunless this year....again. Anyways, that's not my problem. Big, big holiday and I am at work. Yeah, I know I am getting paid, but it would be nice to stay home on a holiday besides Christmas. Oh yes, you guess right, last year the only holidays I got was Christmas Day and Boxing Day. And to think being a grown was fun.

What can I say is Michael Jordan was an accessible star who managed to maintain an air of mystique. With his unique soundness, grace, speed, power and phenomenal artistry Jordan single-handedly redefine the game of basketball. Jordan retired from basketball after winning his 3rd Title a 3-peat. October 1993 he announced that the game was no longer desirable to him and that he is retiring. As I always say basketball is addicted whether you're a player or just a simple spectator (like me). Jordan could not stay away for too long and in March 1995 he announced his return. That season he played in his 14th All-star games becoming that all-time leading scorer in All-star Games history passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. But you know what I say Kobe and Lebron is like Mike, but they can never be Mike. There can only be one 'Airness' of basketball and that's Michael Jordan. You know all season long I have been giving props to a lot of teams mainly the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Well, they deserves all the attention they gets, they are 1st and 2nd in the league. But there is this one team that seems to be overlooked based on their downfall in the last 5 years. They failed to get passed the first round of the Playoffs and they are always the 8th seed. At the start of this season the Denver Nuggets decided that they have had enough. In order for them to improve they will need to make some changes. With that they parted ways with 2001 MVP Allen Iverson and former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Camby and bring in 2004 NBA Champion Chauncey Billups. You would think that without Camby they would lack defense, but with Chris 'Bird Man' Andersen who averages 2.4 block a game they seems to have improved defensively. They have not only improved defensively but offensively as well. With the ever so fearless Billups they have moved from being the 8th seed to the 2nd best in the West. Yes, but a lot thinks it's a flute and that they will lose in the 1st round again. But you know me always the hopeful. Denver have won their last 7 games owning the longest winning streak right now. They will have home court advantage and that's a plus. They also have the experience Billups who knows what's it's like in the Playoffs and he is a Point Guard who can deal under pressure. Not to mention Carmelo Anthony.....lets touch on Melo for a quick second. He was apart of the 2003 draft and like is counterparts he excelled. However, in his 5 years in the league he failed to get pass the 1st round. His close friends from the 2003 draft, Dwyane Wade won the 2006 Title and Lebron James got swept by the San Antonio Spurs in 2007, my point is they have gotten passed the 1st round. Melo have had his ups and downs most of which took placed off the court, but when he comes to play he comes to play. Already an All-star and Olympic Gold Medalist, Melo is shaping up to be a great basketball player....wait he already is. Denver I am hopeful will get pass the 1st round.

Andrew Bynum will return and I am ecstatic about seeing him on the court. Before his injury in January he was averaging 14 points and 8.2 rebounds. The Lakers need him in the paint, his size and toughness will make opponents think twice when making a drive down the lane. They lack that toughness last season but they are more determine than ever to get back to the finals and I think they are hoping it will be the Boston Celtics....revenge.

Carl Landry who was shoot in an attempt robbery earlier in March while driving home from a victory against New Orleans Hornet is said to be recovering fine and will return.

Alzono Mourning Jersey Retired

Alonzo Mourning's Jersey was retired last night in Miami. He is not doubt Miami Heat's most successful player. He is their leading rebounder, shoot blocker, and he was also their leading scorer until Wade took it, he also became the first Miami Heat player to have his Jersey retire. He was apart of Team USA who won the Olympic Gold Medal in Sydney Australia 2000. During the Olympics he flew home for the birth of his child and still make it back in time to play and win the medal. It was that same year he was diagnosed with kidney disease. He was told he would never play basketball again. But Zo's a fighter, his work in the community was tremendous and it was like God sees a man with vigor and fight. For even though he can't play basketball he found a way to be a hero. He gave back to those who have looked up too him when he was playing. He gave back to want and need. In 2003 his second cousin Jason Cooper donated a kidney to him and before you know it he was back to the game and brought back life to the Heat. Along with Dwade and the help of veterans Shaquille O'neal, Gary Payton, Antoine Walker and Udonis Haslem he finally won an NBA Championship in 2006. No doubt Alonzo Mourning is one of the greats and have contributed a lot to the game of basketball. In 2007, Alonzo Mourning along with Andre Agassi, Muhammad Ali, Lance Armstrong, Warrick Dunn, Mia Hamm, Jeff Gordon, Tony Hawk, Andrea Jaeger, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Mario Lemieux, and Cal Ripken Jr. founded Athletes for Hope, a charitable organization, which helps professional athletes get involved in charitable causes and inspires millions of non-athletes to volunteer and support the community. He is 2 times Defensive Player of the Year. He was drafted in 1992 by the Charlotte Hornets (now Charlotte Bobcats) and was traded to Miami 1996. In his comeback after the kidney transplant in 2003 he played 1 1/2 seasons with the New Jersey Nets before reuniting with Miami until his retirement in 2008. He will not only be known for his effort and dedication on the hardwood but also for his charitable efforts in the community. He is 2 times Defensive Player of the Year.

Dwight Howard came into the league out of high school and became the 3rd high school player to be drafted number 1 pick. He like Lebron James came with high expectation and like James he did not disappoint. He was apart of the USA's redemption team to win the Olympic Gold Medal in Beijing. Like other big guys he dominated the paint and last night became the youngest player to reach 5000 rebounds at age 23. Passing Wilt Chamberlain who was 25 years of age. How cool is that.

Another big guy who had his Jersey retired was Vlade Divac of the Sacramento Kings. Drafted in 1989 by the Los Angeles Lakers. After 7 years with the Lakers he was traded to Charlotte Hornets (now Charlotte Bobcats) where he stayed 2 years and was then moved to Sacramento. After 6 wonderful years in Sacramento he was then again reunited with the Lakers for 1 more year in the NBA. He was born in Serbia and was among the first groups of European Basketball player to transfer to the NBA in the 1980's. He is one of the only three players in NBA history to record 13, 000 points, 9, 000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocks (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Hakeem Olajuwon). Like Alonzo Mourning he is a humanitarian at heart. In October 2008 he was appointed as a government adviser in Serbia for humanitarian issues and in February 2009 he was elected President of the Serbia Olympic Committee.

What is Jamaica coming to these days. I know the that prophecy will have to be filled and that what was said of them in olden days must come to pass. But have mercy why are men so cruel. I mean how can one take the life of a child....an innocent child, my Lord. Living in Jamaica feels like living in the Middle East. It's not safe to even walk broad day light. Jamaica that was suppose to be the land of wood and water, have become the land of crime and violence. It has taken over not only our streets but our homes as well. Everytime you turn on the news you hear that another have been gunned down. Terror have become a normal reaction for us. We hear of wars in Iraq, Israel, etc and say we are happy we don't live there. But if we should take a step back and look at our beloved Jamaica we will see that we are no different from what is taking place in those countries. The crime has gotten so out of control that I think we are at a point of no return. You hear people say the government this and the government that. It is not the government's fault that people are having so many kids and can't provide for them. I always ask why have 6 children when you can only provide for 2. You see a woman with 7 kids with 6 different fathers. Sure sometimes you have a child and the coward bounce leaving you on your own. Then you find another man and you have another child for him and then he too leaves you. You know they say once is a mistake, but twice is a spite. Yeah we are all humans and nobody wants to be alone, but hell it's like you've never heard of birth control. And then you blame the government....the government weren't you were getting your groove on.

Then you have kids who go to school and waste time. Theirs parents spend their last dollar so to speak and send them to school, only to have them drop out. Young girls can't wait to grow up and young boys can't wait to call the shots. Ours kids are not kids anymore. They are being forced to have a job before they are old enough to go to high school. They are being exploited by the men they trust to protect them. They are being lied to and undermined. We are their protectors as was our parents of us. I was allowed to be a child, play games, have fun and do things that a child should be doing. Why wouldn't I want my son to have the joy that I did. Why wouldn't I protect him the way my parents protected me. Those are the questions we need to ask ourselves. We need to stop looking for a scape goat and start taking responsibilities for our actions. Sure the government is manipulative and deceiving. Sure they have something to do with what is happening in our country today and the world. Sure they have the power and authority to as they say screw us over. But we have the power to shape our own destiny. We have the power to decide our faith. We have the power to be honest and good. We all have a mind of our own and if we let our lives be a mirror image of our government, then who are we to judge. No one perfect only God alone is perfect. But we are like God, we were made in his image and likeness and that my friend means there is good in everyone of us. I am a strong minded young lady who believes that I can do anything I put my mind to. Some of us think that we are better than others and that we are perfect and can do no wrong. We feel that it is okay to find fault with others, but they are not allowed to find fault with us. We feel that if a person correct us or point out to us that we are wrong in any way, we feel that that person is trying to hold us down or fight against us. But the reason we feel that way is because deep down in our subconsciousness we are the one who is the fighter. True we are what we think of others. The 3 questions we need to ask ourselves are Who Am I?, Why Am I Here? and Where Am I Going? I think that once we can truly answer these questions honestly we will be free to trust God and live.

You know what I find very funny at times. Is that people who always like to speak their minds never like it when others do the same. I have a mind of my own and if I feel like speaking it there is nothing you can do about it. But I also like to know what's on the next person mind as well. So I don't have a problem when someone speak theirs. Mahatma Gandhi(Political and Spiritual Leader in India 1869-1948) had once stated that "You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy my body, but you will never imprison my mind". I believe him and a mind is a powerful thing cause it can dictate the heart. So if your mind tells you that I am trying to fight against you when I speak my mind then that's what you hold in your heart. Because you are like that then you feel in your mind that everyone else is like you. And again I say do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

My Wondering Mind

My son was feeling a little feverish so I gave him a ice bath and some fever medicine and he is doing much better this morning. I think I am getting a hang of this not worrying too much business. Usually as his temperature goes up, I get all worried and rush for the doctor. But now I a little more calm and dealing with it like any other mother. It's not like kids comes with a manuals, it's a learning process and I have a lot more to learn.

I don't believe in coincidences....really I don't. I believe that anything that happens, happens for a reason be it good or bad. I think now that's it official I can talk about it. ACS(Affiliated Computer Services) have acquired e-Services the company I work for. Now when we first heard everyone was like 'I'm gonna lose my job' and all the worrying that goes on when things like this happens. But that was cleared up by my amazing boss. Everything will apparently remain the same except for ownership of course. Anyways, I will just have to continue to do the work I have been doing to the best of my ability. However, when you look at the upside this might just be a good thing. I really don't have much to say, I am just happy that Mr. Casserly will be remaining with us and not leave us in the hands of only God knows who.

Ok, enough of that. The Playoffs starts April 18 and I can hardly wait. Cleveland is at the top of the league right now, which I don't have a problem with. I am just glad it's not Boston....ah shut up....I don't like them and I will knock them all I want....freedom of speech baby. The Lakers and Cavs for the Finals I am sticking with my prediction until one of them lose out in the Playoffs and then I will choose another team to cheer for....and it sure as hell won't be the Boston Celtics.

BTW, I feel great. I though you ought know that I am happy. I refuse to left my actions be dictated by others. I also have been going to the gym lately and I like the results. I also have been trying to eat right, trying being the objective word here, you know we have to eat unhealthy once in a while, right. Hey, if I don't lose weight I will live longer, unless I get hit by a car or a bullet. Cause the way Jamaica is going these days anything is possible. You know there are times when the people around gets on your last nerves and you just have to take a step back. Well, I am taking a step back and see if I can get a better look at things. We are all humans and we are not perfect. There will always be people out there that believes they are perfect and are never wrong. But I won't let that bother me. I don't worry over things like that. As long as I have life and my son has life and he is happy then I am happy.

Why So Angry???????

Sometimes I feel like people are deliberately trying to upset me or pick on me for some reason or another. I don't know maybe I'm delusional or something. Like when simple things happen and they blow it out of proportion. You know at one time I use to just speak my mind and don't care who gets hurt. I use to get chastised for it. People being like it's not what you said but how you said it. I didn't care about that, as long as I said what I have to say, that was it. But the older you get the wiser you become. You know like the older the moon the brighter the shine, something like that. I am still learning how to control how I say things and I am starting to be sensitive about the effect of what I say have on people. As a result of that to most people who never me before 2 years ago would say I am soft. But that's not it all. Ever since my son was born I have been on the path to redemption. I try to be a calmer more sympathetic person, but sometimes there is that one person or persons who are there to test your faith. I am trying to resist the temptation to blurt out what's on my mind there and then. But at times I just hold my tongue cause when I speak my mind I tell the truth about what think of the person which in most cases is way out of line. I also tend to wear my emotions on my shelves metaphorically speaking. So not only do I say what's on my mind I show the emotions that I am experiencing at the said time which is a terrible combination. What I started doing is counting to 10 before I answer and frankly it's working to an extent. I think I will get better at mastering the whole self control, but I am taking it one step at a time. Did you know for every minute that you are angry, you lose 60 seconds of happiness? I love to laugh I don't know why, actually I am still trying to figure that out. I don't like being angry and I hate to speak when I am angry. So when I get angry I listen to music or sing a song or just laugh at the whole situation. Cause if you speak when you are angry you'll make the best speech that you will ever regret. If you can't answer in a calm way then shout your trap for a soft answer turneth away wrath but grievous words stir up anger. I will try my best to be like the duck, calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath. I think George Herbert(Welsh Poet and Priest) said it best "Be calm in arguing, for fierceness makes error a fault and truth discourtesy".

Joe Johnson

Joe Johnson happens to be one of the most underrated players in the league. Maybe it's because he is so quiet. He is a very effective player even though his game does not consist of a lot flair like his counterparts. His combination of outside shooting and ball handling skill makes him tough to guard. Because of that his opponents are forced to play him close which opens the lane and he has the size and strength to finish plays. He is an excellent catch and shoot guy, but did not get enough chances to utilize that due to the mere fact that most of Atlanta's offense was created through him. But all that changed since Mike Bibby was traded to the Hawks. Johnson is a 3 times All-Star and even though not considered a superstar is a solid defender who has the ability to play several positions. In 2007 he became the first Atlanta Hawks player to be named to the All-Star Games since Shareef Abdur-Rahim in 2002 when he was named a reserves replacement for Jason Kidd by Commissioner David Stern. He is said be the best all round player for the Hawk since Dominique Wilkins. In 2004-05 he became the 4th player in NBA history to make at least 150 three-point field goals and shoot over 45 percent from behind the arc in the same season (others — Glen Rice in 1996-97, Dana Barros in 1994-95 and Dale Ellis in 1988-89). He was a member of Team USA's Men's Senior National Team in 2006. Averaging 17.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.4 assist in his career makes Joe Johnson a very effective and stable player in the league. But all that goes unnoticed. While I love the hype that Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Shaq, etc generates I also pay attention to the simpler players who just love to play the game of basketball. I chose to post about Joe Johnson cause he is a good basketball player and I like to watch him play. Sure, he won't give you theatrical shots like Wade but he can hold his own. Like Delonte West he is underrated but they don't let that affect their games and that's basketball.

Kobe, Lebron & Wade Who Can Top Who Week

Monday night Dwyane Wade put on a performance that will be remembered for a long time. Lebron James saw what Wade did and was like 'Wade's my friend but that spotlight needs to be on me'. So Tuesday night when his team down 17 points going into the fourth quarter. He rallied his troupes and came back with a 87-83 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Then last night Kobe was like 'oh ok, so that's how it's gonna be, I am going to show these young fellows how it's done'. So when the Houston Rockets limited him to only 6 points and 2 turnovers in the first half and went into the locker room with a 11 points lead he did not panic. He came out and played like the superstar he is. But what really got him going was a confrontation with Ron Artest (they both got double Technical). They were both being good competitors pushing and trash talk each other. But everyone should know that they should not get Kobe angry cause that's when he'll kick his game up a notch. He literally took over the game and scored 12 points in last 4 minutes of the game. Wade on the other hand was not satisfied with his performance on Monday cause he felt he need to prove it was not a flute. While no buzzer beater was needed, he guide the Heat to a 107-99 win over the defending champions Boston Celtics. The lost to the Celtics puts them 2.0 games behind Cleveland and just 1.5 games ahead of Orlando. I can't wait for April 18 when the playoffs begin. In the West the Lakers are 7.5 games ahead of second place San Antonio Spurs and I doubt they will catch them, so I guess it's save to say that they have won the West. While in the East the race for 1st, 2nd and 3rd seed is very close and could go either way. The Atlanta Hawks have stumble after the All-Star break but are doing all they can to hold on the 4th seed. Last season they brought everyone's attention back to them when they took the Celtics to 7 games in the playoffs last season....can they do it again....we will see.

Wade's World

The Miami Heat put on a show last night against the Chicago Bulls when they took a130-127 win in double overtime. Coming off a 89-99 lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night, the Heat knew they had to win in order to keep all hopes alive if they want to gain that 4th seed in the playoffs. The game was a once in a lifetime experience for most players. It was a show from start to finish. Dwyane Wade was hitting buzzer beaters after buzzer beater. With 6 seconds remaining in the first half he hit a buzzer beater to give the Heat a 2 points lead going into the locker room. At the end of regulation Wade hit another 3 pointer with 11 seconds remaining on the clock to send the game in overtime. Neither team was willing to give and hence a second overtime. Wade being the great player that he is did not gave up, he kept pushing and it paid off. With the game tied at 127-127 and the Bulls coming out of a time with 11 seconds on the clock. Wade took a gamble and stole the ball from Salmons and hit a running 3 pointer, another buzzer beater to win the game. My....it was amazing you had to see it to believe it.
I just love this game....it's so excited and fun, and wow. You from the start of the season everyone's been saying Lebron and Kobe for MVP, but Dwade is showing he can roll with the best of them. Yeah sure his team records are not as impressive as the Lakers and Cavs but he is getting the job done and that's all that matter at this point in the season. They are in the playoffs and that mean they have a chance to go all the way. I am just saying in this league you can never underestimate a team no matter how bad their records are. In 2006 the Heat won made it to their first ever NBA Finals in Franchise history and they won the championship courtesy of Dwade with the help of veterans Shaquille O'neal, Gary Payton, Antoine Walker and Alonzo Mourning. Those guys played great, but it was Dwade who made the big shots when it counted and they won. In the 2003 Draft Lebron and Carmelo was the talk of it all. Lebron won the Rookie of the Year which I thought Wade should have won because he not only played to a high standard but he took his team to the playoffs and he did that without Shaq and them at the time. Anyways, what I am saying is that Dwade to me is more like Mike than Lebron is. Don't get me wrong they are both superb basketball players and will be some of the greatest of all time. You can even argue that Lebron is better than Wade, but on the real Wade does have the hardware. In last night's game against the Bulls Wade recorded 48 points and 12 assist, making it 78 straight games scoring in double figures. He has also scored at least 20 points in 19 straight games putting him 1 game away from matching a Franchise record he currently own. The trade with Toronto did payoff. They gave up Shawn 'The Matrix' Marion for Jermaine O'neal and Jamario Moon, Miami gain and Toronto's lost. Now Miami have that big guy who can bang with the best of them and Moon who can give that energy and athleticism he is known for. Match all that with Wade's charisma, talent and skills, plus Micheal Beasley the up and coming rookie, the passing ability of rookie Mario Chalmers and the calm and cool composer of Udonis Haslem they can get back to championship status. They are a young team and they might not get at the top this season but with the young guys on the team and Wade as their leader they can be next season. Oh, don't say they won't cause in the game of basketball and in the NBA anything is possible. In 2006 they won, cool....then the following year they got kicked out if the first round of the Playoffs. Last season they had the worst record in the league. Wade was injury of course and they traded Shaq and Antoine Walker and Gary Payton retired....so what they weren't the same team as there were in 2006. But that's what I am saying unexpected things always happened in the NBA. That is why I love this game, so puzzling.

Home Court Advantage

The Cleveland Cavaliers buckled under the pressure, they couldn't beat the Boston Celtics. The Lakers proved they can beat the Celtics both at home and away. The Cavs fail to prove they can beat the Celtics on their own turf which will be very crucial when playoffs time come. The defense that the Celtics have become known for that won them the championship last year showed the Cavs what they will have to contend with if and when they meet in the conference finals. The Cavs failed to capitalized on the absent of Kevin Garnett who is said to be out at least another week due to injury. The Orlando Magic on the other hand did not waste anytime with Garnett and Rajon Rondo out they took advantage of the situation and use it to their benefit. Now they are 3 games from gaining home court advantage in the East. Boston and Cleveland are tied for first and the tie breaker no doubt will be on April 12 when they go head to head again. With the regular series tie 1-1 and non prove they can take each other on their own turf, home court will be the deciding factor if either teams where to make it to the Finals. That was the case last year and looks to be the case this year again. But they both need to watch out cause the Magic aren't going anywhere. As for out West the Lakers have the home court thing lock.

A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that the couple was "definitely together" and working on a reconciliation." I said I wasn't gonna say anything about this....blog about it I mean. Common symptoms are letting a man dictate your life, let him beat you, talk to you like you're trash, being dependent on him and let him sleep around on you. The cure is to be independent, confident in yourself, high self-esteem, and have an if you hit you dead mentality. Most men are afraid of a confident independent woman, cause he can't push her around. Men who hit women are cowards, full stop. If a man hits me, or talk trash to me he don't love me. I am strong black woman and ain't no man gonna take that away from me. Any man who can't love and respect me for who I am can hit the road and I'll be like Beyonce "to the left, to the left". If a man need respect he must first learn to give respect. How can you talk trash to me and expect me to respect you, I'm gonna talk trash right back at you. Changes In My Life

Life has been good and bad so far, but I think I am getting a hang of it. You know dealing with the changes and all, and bracing myself for whatever comes my way. But sometimes that one unexpected change just hit and you are left wondering which road to take to make the best of a chaotic or maybe just a simple complicated situation. I have been at that crossroad numerous of times. Sometimes I take the wrong road and sometimes I take the right. You know what's strange, I have come to find the hard roads more likable than the easy ones. Why....I don't know maybe it's the challenge, but all I know is that I tend to learn more not just about life and life's encounters....I learn more about myself. It seems like I am always on a quest to discover myself in a way that only I can. I have made mistakes after mistakes but I have structured myself to learn from my mistakes. I try not to make the same mistake twice....once is an accident but twice is on purpose....that's how I view life. But you are probable thinking why make so many mistakes....but he who never made a mistake, never make a discovery. I have a motto for every aspect of life, whether it be spiritual or sentimental. One of my favorite is "I am who I am your approval isn't needed". You may think that's is a hash thing to say but what you must understand is if you live your life thinking about what others will to say, you will never really live your life. I am not one to let my life be dictated by what people think. I have done it before, you know let what I do be a reflection of what people think or say. But what I realized is that I became someone else and not who I really am. Why should I be someone else to please people when sometimes the person we are trying to please don't care. I have learn to let people accept me for who I am, if they can't then it's their lost. I think that if someone can't love me the way I am then they never really loved me. We tend to want to please the people who don't care when the one person we should be pleasing is ourselves. I will just be who I am and say what I feel cause those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. I don't believe in coincidences, I believe everything happens for a reason be it good or bad. I live my life one day at time....but also with a plan for the future. We all view life differently and have a different approach towards changes, but whatever actions we take will be that of our own.

Stephon Marbury Released

The New York Knicks and Stephon Marbury came to a buyout agreement. Well, it's about time. I know Stephon have issues with following instructions and all, but to have the guy sitting and not playing is just down right stupid. Coach Mike D'Antoni never did like him from when he played for him in Phoenix, so when he took over the Knicks he sidelined Stephon and said that there is not space for him on the team. The players did not like him either and they refuse to play with him. Stephon's a good player....so don't get me wrong. He is a 12 years veteran and was averaging 19.7 points, 7.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game, and he is also 2 times All-star. He is the kinda guy who shows up to play every night and can hold his own on the court. But as I said he has issues, not the Allen Iverson, Rasheed Wallace or Ron Artest anger issues....at least their teammates will play with them. Anyways since the buyout took place before March 1 he is free to sign with any team that will sign him. Boston had their sights set on him maybe now they can go at him. I just hope teams like Cleveland, Los Angeles, Lakers and Orlando don't sign him. Cause they have the whole team chemistry lock and seeing how chemistry don't bud well with Stephon he just ruin them. He can play and he is very good Point Guard who can make shots for others and himself. He will be a good addition to any team play wise that is. Maybe he's change you know....I hope.

Delonte Makes is Return Known

Cleveland Cavalier Guard Delonte West was back in action on Sunday as the Cavs bomb rushed the Detroit Pistons in 99-78 victory. The Cavs had a 33 points lead at the end of the first half....talk about outscored, and not even the great Allen Iverson or Rasheed Wallace could stop them. West who broked his right wrist in a collision with Chicago Bulls Guard Derrick Rose on January 15 came back like he was never out. He was 8-11 from the field and 5-5 from the 3 point line and he ended with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal in his return to the line-up. Boy, was he awesome and with the Cavs healthier than ever who knows how far they can. Delonte West was part of the big trade the Cavs made to surround Lebron James with enough fire power to win a Championship. With West back in the line-up it gives opponents one more sharp shooter to worry about. Last night the Cavs look like the Cavs earlier in the season when they were just blowing by everybody. The Cavs are on their way to a Championship.....we'll just have to wait and see what Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers have to say about it. Everybody knows I am a East fan the only teams in the East that I really don't ever cheer for is the Pistons and the Celtics. While on the Westside I prefer Lakers, Spurs, Suns, Mavericks, Nuggets, and the Rockets(mainly because they have Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming and Ron Artest). So I lean more to the East. I want Lakers and Cavaliers to meet in the Finals and we will see who is better Kobe or Lebron....or maybe see who have the better supporting cast....cause you they know they can't win without them. I am just happy Delonte West is back...he is one of those underrated, least talk about players who can hold his own on the court and make players like Lebron James look good. West's got game and I love the way he plays. I still think that Kobe is better than Lebron....so not because I am a Cavaliers fan that's gonna change....come to think about it I am a bigger fan of the Cavs than I am of the Lakers....mmmm....but I am a bigger fan of Kobe than I am of Lebron....talk about confuse....ahhhhh. Anyways, all I am saying is that watching Kobe and Lebron is like watch Magic Johnson and Larry Bird or Micheal Jordan and Karl Malone. I love them both....I also love Carmelo, Wade, Shaq, Duncan, Dwight, JO, etc....ok now I am confuse....they are all so great it hard to just love one.

Vacation Over.....Back To The Stress

I just got got from my vacation. It wasn't bad, household chores, a son who has more energy than the energizer bunny, and errands. I got a lot of sleep though, which was what I wanted.

Well I am back at work and it's worst than when I left. Obama said that chance will come, but no so. Mercy man, chances in the middle of a work. Any chances that will affect an agents pay should not be implemented until the start of a new week. That's down right not accepted. I have been on this one particular account for 1 year 6 months and instead of it getting any better it gets worst. Man, it's frustrating and will make anybody give up. I don't quit very easily but I think I want to call it's quit. Trust me this is BULL. Mi caan botha......this is bare stress. I think want to leave this account cause it's like they want us to make bread out of stone. But seeing like how I am not Christ I won't even bother to try. I told them once and I will tell them again. Slave was abolished and I am no slave. This is unheard of....I refuse to do more than I can do.

All-Star Weekend

Valentine's Day was any other day for me. I spend it with the love of my life...my son...the apple of my eyes.

Let's touch the All-star weekend...my favorite weekend on the season. But I have to admit this was not the best All-star weekend. It was alright, did it top last year's...heck no, but it was alright. Friday night the celebrity game was fun to watch as usual. Terrell Owens(Wide Receiver-Dallas Cowboys) won the MVP, he was last year's MVP as well.
As for the Rookie Challenge....you know where the rookies of this year and last year's rookies who are now sophomores face off. Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma Thunder...last season's Rookie of the Year...took home the MVP as the Sophomore's beat the Rookies 122-116 for their 7th straight win over the Rookies. Kevin scored 46 points beating a record of 36 which was set by Phoenix Sun's Amare Stoudamire in 2004(he was the MVP of that game). Kevin also won the HORSE competition. Anyways...check this Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard was the Assistant Coach for the Sophomores and Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade was the Assistant Coach of the Rookies.

I don't know which mirror Dwade was looking in when he put on his outfit...I guess this what they means when they say take chances...cuz he took a big risk if you ask me. Okay enough of that on Saturday night....Valentine's Day. The Skills where displayed. The Detroit Pistons won the Shooting Stars. In the Skills Challenge Rookie Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls proves he have skills by copping the title. Jason Kapono of Toronto Raptors defending Champions(2007,2008) of the Three Points Shootout Title got his 3-peat spoiled but Miami's Sophomore Daequan Cook. Cook forced a tie breaker with Orlando's Rashard Lewis. Kenny 'The Jet' Smith said that Cook would not win....talking about how the big stage and bright lights would affect....well Cook showed him. The Slam the highlight of the night. Last year Dwight Howard pulled his Superman stunt and took the slam dunk to a new heights. Well, let's just say he did live up to the level he set. Yeah, he did the whole superman thing...but little Nate Robinson(2007 winner) was his kryptonite. Nate came out in all green and jumped out Dwight. Now that was what gave Nate the win....that was good sportsmanship. Then on Sunday night the big night the best of the best went at it. We get to see Shaq and Kobe play together for the first time since their not so friendly split in 2004. Guess what the both played so great that they were both named MVP. How cool is that. And guess what Philip Jackson was the Coach of the West...now that is cool. The West beat the East 146-119. Talk about blowout. Bill Russell was honored by the Commissioner David Stern who announced that the NBA Finals MVP will be named in his honor...that is great. He was the most dominant big man(center) in his time. Since then we have seen the lights of Shaquille O'neal, Tim Duncan, Patrick Ewing, and now we have young and upcoming stars Yao Ming, Dwight Howard, just to name a few. Also I don't know if you knew but Allen Iverson swore that he would never cut his braids. When he entered the league in 1996 he had low cut, but soon after he grew his hair and decided he would never cut it. You Madea (Tyler Perry's Madea's Class Reunion) had said that when you're in your 20s it's all fun and games, but when you get to 30 a light comes on and if the light doesn't come on we should check our bulbs. I guess Allen Iverson light came on (he's 33) cause he showed up at the All-star with a low cut. Jermaine O'neal, Richard Hamilton, Carmelo Anthony are just a few of the players who have given up their braids. This might not have been the best All-star Weekend but it was fun.

go..go..go Kobe it's not your birthday, but we gonna party like it's ur birthday. Who cares if he's like Mike or not, it's obvious he is one of the greatest basketball players, no doubt. Kobe came out battling the flu and scored 19 points. Lebron James who was healthy as an ox scored 16 points. The Lakers won 101-91. I have to admit the Lakers played superior basketball, they took away Lebron's comfort zone and made him pass the ball, he had 12 assist. They cut off his drive down the lane and made him shoot jump shoots.....which was contested. But the real star of the game was Lamar Odom, he was superb and he played with the same high energy and intensity he played with against the Celtics....he scored 28 point(season high) and 17 rebounds. The Lakers must be a pain in the rectum for top teams. They end the Celtics win streak and now they hand Cleveland their first home lose of the season ending their 23 home games win streak.....talk about show stoppers. If they were trying to send a message....trust they did. Last season around this time they lost Trevor Ariza and Andrew Bynum and they traded for Pau Gasol. They made it to the finals without Andrew and Pau was still trying to find his way in their system. Even with Trevor back they still could not overcome the hump....which happened to be the Celtics. However, this season guys are older and have experienced the Finals in the worst possible way and I am sure they will not let it happened again. They are more mature and with Lamar in the starting line up and playing the way he is playing I think they could go all the way. Now that they proof they can beat the 2 top teams in the East on their own turf, all they need to do is handle the Spurs. We all know that the Spurs always play their best basketball after the All-stars break....even though they are 6.5 games behind the Lakers they are known to make that big push.

You know I have to admit this is the first time in a long while that I am all for the Lakers. In 2000 I wanted them to win so bad.....you know the Shaq and Kobe duo. Then in 2001 I wanted Allen Iverson to get the win....which the Lakers copped again. 2002 I cheered for the Lakers even though J.Kidd was probable deserving of the win. This is the best Lakers team I have seen since then and I love it. Besides I am a Kobe, Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza, Derek Fisher, Sasha Vujacic, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum and Jordon Farmar fan so what can I say I might as well love the team. As for the East I never was and never will be a Celtics fan, but I am however a Cavaliers and Magic fan.....wait a second I like ever teams except Celtics and the Pistons (I lose all love for the Pistons ever since "The Malice at the Palace....you know the Indiana vs Detroit showdown). Enough of that.

Anyways, the San Antonio Spurs whop the Celtics 105-99. This means the Lakers is the only team without double digits loses. Orlando Magic gave the New Jersey a sound whopping 101-84. Oh and Dallas Mavericks Jason Terry broke is wrist and will be out for awhile....man I wanted him to get the Sixth Man of year award but this just puts a dent in things....oh well I guess it will go to Richard Hamilton of the Piston. I can't complain though he would deserves it.

Also, remember Lebron's 52 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists making him the first player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1975) to score 50 points and recording triple double. Well that wasn't long live cause the NBA review the tape and said that the rebound that was credited to Lebron with 39 seconds to go in the game, was an error and that the rebound was Ben Wallace's. Bummer....talk about picking you and up and dropping you like hot bread. Never fear Lebron you have a lot of time to go it again.

NBA's Greatest Rivalry Brought Back To Life

Here we go again......On Christmas Day the Lakers put an end to the Celtics 19-0 win streak (Franchise best) and send them in a losing frenzy. During that lapse teams such as Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic have seen their fair share as leaders of the league. Surprisingly the Boston Celtics have slid to the number 4 position and 3rd in the East. All this time the Los Angeles Lakers bounce back and forth as the league leader while maintaining their dominance of the West. Going into last might's game the Lakers and Celtics were tied for first place. Celtics on a 12-0 win streak and Lakers on 4-0. What happened?....you ask.....well my dear the Lakers put an end to their win streak of course. What did you expect? BTW, last season the Celtics won the regular season series 2-0 and went on to beat them in the finals. This season the Lakers return the favor. Hmmmm....knowing the impact history have on sports especially the NBA maybe is they meet in the Finals and the Lakers will go on to win (well not if Lebron and his troops have anything to say about that). Mark this is also the first time since they got their hind parts (I will not say that word ...it's rude) whopped in game 6 of the Finals that the Lakers are back to TD Banknorth Garden and again they showed up and play.

The game was a physical one and they went head to head throughout the game. To prove how intense the clash between these 2 teams are, fight almost bruk. After Lamar Odom got fouled by Rajon Rondo while going after a loose ball. Kobe tried to help him up, bright and feisty Rondo push him and you know Kobe was not having that, they both got T-up (for those of you non-basketball people that means they both got a technical foul). I mean just because you won a Championship at his expense that gives you the right to try and push around one of the greatest basketball players in the world...come on Rondo don't hate the player, and you can't hate the game either, lol. Then check this Kevin Garnett fouled Lamar at the other end and Lamar gave him a friendly spot and Garnett turned back and got in his face....what was better is that Lamar did not backed down he was up toe to toe with one of the league best defender....Kobe came to his aid with Rondo and now he was like I got it this time. But that got him fired up, he only had 2 points in first half and end the game with 20 points. Oh yeah and KG (Kevin Garnett) was fouled with a little under 5 minutes remaining in the game. The Lakers handled their business in overtime when Lamar hit 2 big free throws with 16 seconds remaining in overtime, Lakers won 110-109. Yeah baby....I wonder what this will do to the Celtics?????? Will they return to the slumps like they did when the Lakers snap their 19 games winning streak. I hope they do....I am not cruel....I am an NBA fan, period....a little paranoid from time to time, lol. Ok I am obsess with the game, there you happy, I admit it, jeez. Anyways if they do then I am sure the Cavs will be delighted. I will be too cause I am dying to see Lebron and Kobe vie for the Championship.

Even though he did top Kobe's 61 points at the Gardens, Lebron made history another way. He became the 7th player to hit the 50 points mark and have a triple double. He scored 52 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists to became the first play since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1975) to do so. Hey...check it....that tops Micheal Jordon and Kobe Bryant. Does that make him better than they are.....NOOoooo...get that thought out of head right this minute. He will be one day....believe that. Come 3-4 years from now he will be...no doubt. But for right now he not yet that high caliber player just yet, he is still young and have some more development to do.....oh yes and get the hardware...the championship trophy of course, duh.

You every player that is said to explode coming into the league have done just that. Sure guys like Jameer Nelson, Rudy Fernandez, Josh Howard, etc, etc....whew this list can go on.....have been over looked and are showing why they were drafted in the first place. I think the only one guy who did not live up to the hype was Kwame Brown. Who;s he? Well he was the first high school player to select first overall in the 2001 draft (Lebron James second, Dwight Howard third), moreover he played alongside Micheal Jordan in his rookie year....and you think that would amount to some....what a drag. On February 2nd 2009 Kobe Bryant set a Madison Square Garden record when scored 61 points against the New York Knick becoming the highest scorer to play in the Mecca of Basketball. Kobe put on a performance that will never be forgotten....which did not surprise me much. Ever since he scored 81 points in 2006 anything he does don't come as a surprise to me because I know what he is capable of doing every time he put the ball on the hardwood. He broke a record the was previously held by the great Micheal Jordan 55 points in 1995 as an opponent and he bettered former Knick Bernard King's 60 points vs the Nets in 1984. And if that wasn't enough he he was perfect from the free throw line when he made all 20 of his free throws which is second best to Dominique Wilkens who made 23 vs the Bulls in 1992. Kobe keep on to show why he is consider one of the greatest basketball players.

Lebron James must have been jealous of Kobe's record cause last night he became the youngest player in NBA history to reach the 12,000 points plateau. He did so at age 24 years and 35 days old breaking a record held Kobe Bryant who was 25 years and 220 days old when reached the milestone. Lebron keeps getting better and better and if he stays on this course he will break the barrier for most points score in the NBA. He will also get a crack at Kobe's Madison Square Garden(MSG) 61 points record when his Cleveland Cavaliers goes up against the Knicks at MSG on Feb 4. Last year Lebron scored 50 points at MSG on the path to one of his five 50 points games. So if he breaks Kobe's record I don't that will surprise anyone much....cause I know what he can do just the same.

The Cleveland Cavaliers last night beat Toronto 101-83 as they remain flawless at home winning their 23rd straight home games. Lakers will be without Andrew Bynum for 8-12 weeks after a collision with Kobe on Saturday which aggravated his knee....the one that caused him the better part of last season....if you had seen the look on Kobe's face...boy I felt his pain. The good news is that he will be back in time for the Playoffs. All-star starter Chris Paul is out with a groin injury and will not play in the All-star games....bummer...I wanted him to play so bad....I hope they replace him with Carmelo Anthony. Melo was over looked because he was injured but now that he is back...and playing like he never left...I think he should get CP3 spot. Another All-star (reserve) Jameer Nelson dislocated his shoulder against Dallas and will also miss the All-star games (he is also slated to perform in the Skills Challenge). His replacement in my opinion should go to Devin Harris because he have been playing like an All-star or Mo Williams as he is one of the reason the Cavaliers are better than they were last season. But I believe that Mo deserves it more than Harris because of his team's record. I also think Jameer's replacement in the Skills Challenge should be Dwyane Wade....is there a more skillful player....Wade is also a 2 times Skill Challenge Champion 2006, 2007.

We as a race can say we have overcome and that we are a proud and mighty race. Yes we have succeed where we were told we never will. In this mighty race we have some of the world's greatest athletes, singers, poets, writers, politicians, dancers, actors, more so a black man is the President of one of the world's greatest nations....is there a race that is mightier than the black race. I would have to say no to that. We have been beaten, enslaved, raped of our pride and dignity....yet still we rise. We have seen how a man became a slave and over the years we have seen how a slave became a man. This is black history month but I celebrate black history everyday. Everyday that I achieve something or overcome obstacles I celebrate because if it weren't for my ancestors I wouldn't have anything to celebrate. Looking back on slavery is a historical truth to me, it helps me to be strong. No man can know where he is going until he can understand where he is coming from. In order to understand the future we must first understand the past and understand how get here to the present. The past will make us strong and we get stronger as the years pass. We are a powerful race and we will always keep rising. We have been held captive and yet still we rise. Our ancestors knew that one day we would overcome that was why they fight so that we can be free. I think Maya Angelou said it best "Bringing the gift my ancestors gave, I am the dream and hope of the slave". In the words of Marcus Mosiah Garvey "A people without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots". They paved the way for us and now we are to do the same for our children and our children's children. They will be our hope and dream....but what are we giving them to hope for. We need to come together and make this world a save place for our future generation. No longer do we need to be separated, laundry is the only thing that should be separated by color.....are we saying we are nothing but dirty clothes. Is that the message we are sending the generations to come? Is this the manner we want to continue to live in? I know that there will always be whites who think that we are nothing but slaves.....but as the African Proverbs states "The African race is a rubber ball. The harder you dash it the higher it rise". So no matter what they try to do to us we will rise. Obama is full proof of that and if they still don't believe there will be more to come cause we will not back down....we never did, not now, not ever. "One Aim! One God! One Destiny!"

Growing Up Fast

Antoine is in pre-school and right now I have to prepare to spend money. He is like a sponge.....just soak up everything. He's learning very fast. Sometimes he is trying to teach me, lol. He is my sunshine on a dark and dreary day. How can someone hurt a child. They are so adorable.

Sometimes I wish he will just grow up so that he can understand what I say to him. But....then again I wish he will stay the way he is....adorable and cunning. Yeah..you don't have to say it....I am confuse so what I'm a mother. But on the real think about, don't you think our parents had wish we stayed a kid. Then they wouldn't have to deal with mood swings of a rebellious teenagers. Well if you didn't, think again, lol. Don't even bother say you were a good behaving kid. I know better....you were probable the best behaving child when mom and dad is about but when they not there all hell break loose. It don't matter though kids will always be kids. Bob Marley did say "one good thing about music wen it hits yu feel no pain". That is so true music vitalize me. Whenever I am feeling down, upset, bored, discourage, happy, whatever, I listen to music. There is always that one song that explains how you are feeling. It's like the songwriters knows exactly what we are feeling or going through. You ever notice sometimes you are going through an emotion and you just hear that one song that relate to exactly what you are feeling? I have that is why I love music and I am always singing or humming a song that express how I am feeling.

Music speaks what we cannot express, soothes the mind and give it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole and flows from heaven to the souls. I love all kind of music from Reggae to Rock n' Roll, from Jazz to R&B, from Oldies to Western you names it I will listen to it. To me music is love in search of a word and the universal language of humanity. I think Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche said it best "Without music life would be a mistake".

All-Stars Fever

This is my favorite time of the NBA season....All-Stars. I love All-stars weekend because I get to see the stars in action. But my favorite is the Slam Dunk competition. I am always at the end of seat waiting to see what skills will be displayed. In all my years of watching the Slam Dunk I always say that 2000 was my favorite the year Vince Carter won. But last year became my favorite when Dwight Howard break out his superman stunt.....that was incredible. I can't wait to see what he have in store for the year, but I am sure it will be explosive and mind bubbling. I am also a fan of the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge cause I get to see the Rookies and Sophomores strut their stuff without the veterans. Then the big day All-star game.....what can I say who wouldn't want to see the top players in the league on one team. I can't wait plus Nene the Brazilian superstar for the Denver Nuggets will get married on All-star weekend....how cool is that. Chris Webber on NBA TV Fan Night said that it would be great to have him kiss the bride at the Slam Dunk competition while Dwight Howard dunk over them......ummmm.....that's far fetch but think about it.....that will be taking slam dunk to higher heights. Rudy Fernandez join defending champion Dwight Howard, 2006 champion Nate Robinson and Rudy Gay becoming the first international player to compete in the contest. I wonder what they have plan for us this year......will they be able to top last year's performance......we'll have to wait and see.

Slavery is nothing new and will never be old. It can be dated as far back to 1760 BC to the earliest records such as the Code of Hammurabi which refers to slavery as an establish institution. Even today we are living in mental slavery. Whenever I am down and feel discourage I look back to the past. I look back on slavery for inspiration and a way to move forward. I look to God for wisdom and understanding. I often wonder why did we have to suffer the way we did. Why was my race considered the worst? I always ask those question and history always provide the answer. Sometimes the answer is not the one I am looking for but with the grace of God I always seems to get the understanding I seek. You see to me nothing happens by chance, but for a reason. Would we be as strong a race that we are if we were not bound in bondage? Maybe we would, maybe we wouldn't we'll never know. What I do know is that I am proud of who I am. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream, Marcus Mosiah Garvey had a vision and Nelson Mandela had hope. For years and centuries we have been fighting the same fight for equal rights and justice. On January 20, 2009 the United States Of America one of the world's most powerful Nations swore in their first Black President. If I have never believed in prophecy I do now. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream when all he could do was dream that this day would come. That was 46 years ago and my mother was only 1 years old. Now I am 25 years old and I can stand boldly and say that I have witness the dream of Martin Luther King Jr. come through. I look back on the past with sadness in my heart to know that my forefathers have to endure such cruelty and abominable treatment. But I always hold my head high cause I know that they have fought and gave their lives so that I can be free. They have given me hope to be a strong black woman. So that I have a voice to stand up for what I believe in. When I look back on history I am proud because it's a guide to navigate the perilous times. History is who I am and why I am the way I am.

My views on LIFE

Most people just simply say life is just for living, while some say live for today. Our life is like a piece of paper on which every passerby leaves a mark. Life can be found only in the present moment. The past is gone, the future is not yet here, and if we do not go back to ourselves in the present moment, we cannot be in touch with life. We have to live each moment as it's the last in order to fully understand and enjoy life to it fullest. Mainly, because our lives are like sewers. What we get out of it depends on what we put into it.

Over the years I have developed a picture of what a human being living humanely is like. That picture is a person who is real and willing to take risks, to be creative, to manifest competence, to change when the situation calls for it, and to find ways to accommodate to what is new and different. Now I understand that life is a progress and not a station, and that it's a succession of lessons that we must live to understand and realize that life should be lived and not controlled.

It's funny how many people are always getting ready to live but are never living. As a result many people die with the music still in them and reason for this is that when they are ready to live before you know it time runs out. Many of us fulfill the object of our existence by asking a question we cannot answer and by attempting task we cannot achieve. Too often have we set ourselves up for failure and when we do so we overlooked our true potential. Too many of us are busy thinking about security instead of opportunity. We seems to be more afraid of life than we are of death. We are living in a time when our world is of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. Wars and elections are both too big and too small to matter in the long run. How are we to live a moral and compassionate existence when we are fully aware of the blood, the horror inherent in life, when we find darkness not in our own culture but within ourselves? If there is a stage at which our lives becomes truly adult, it must be when we grasps the irony in its unfolding and accepts responsibility for a life lived amidst such paradox. We must live in contradiction, because if all contradiction is to be eliminated our lives will collapse. Certainly there is no simply answer to some of the great pressing questions. We must continue to live them out making our lives a worthy expression of leaning into the light.

Some of us go through life alone thinking that it's better that way. So we withdraw ourselves and stop living the life we are given to live. But what we must understand is that a person who tries to live their lives alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart will wither if it does not answer another heart. His mind will shrink away if the only echoes he hears is of his own thoughts and in that he will find no other inspiration. An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. Most of us use religion negatively when we try to find a way to not live our lives. What we don't know is that life becomes religious whenever we make it so. When some new light is seen, when some deeper appreciation is felt, when some larger outlook is gained, when some nobler purpose is formed and when some task is well done. It is in our lives and not words that our religion should read. True religion is real living, living with one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness.

Life is chance for us to grow a soul and in the end it's not the years in our lives that count, it's the life in the years. All of us have sweetness in our hearts and that is what helps us to go on. It is towards that we run when we feel torn and worn out. It is how we spend ours days that reflects how we live our lives. Love life and life will love you back, love people and they will love you back. What everyone wants from life is continuous and genuine happiness. But in order to obtain such happiness we must be grateful. Gratefulness is the key to life's happiness that we hold in our hands. Because if we are not grateful we will not be truly happy, because we will always want to have something more or something else. Happiness is not so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but we have a life by what we give.

Life is like onion, you peel it layer by layer at a time and sometimes it makes you weep. I think that taking life seriously is that whatever man does on this planet has to be done in the truth of the terror of creation, of the grotesque, of the rumble of panic underneath everything. Otherwise it is false. Whatever must be achieve it to be done with the fullest exercise of passion, vision, pain, fear and sorrow. The irony of man's condition is the deepest need to be free of the anxiety of death and annihilation. Life is what we make of it and we should consider every day lost on which we do not dance at least once. It's faith in and enthusiasm for something that makes life worth living and as Albert Einstein once said "only a life lived others is a life worthwhile".

Have a happy 2009 and I hope everyone will live life to it fullest. All the crime and violence in the world and Jamaica is enough to last a lifetime. So lets not add to the equation, lets take a different approach. When angry count to 10 and if very angry count to 100. The Celtics Struggling and the Magic on the Rise

Going into Sunday's game the Orlando Magic was the only team in the league to have not won a season series against the San Antonio Spurs. They have now won both meeting which is a sure sign of their growth and maturity. They are playing great basketball and is in second place in the Eastern Conference and 3 overall ahead of the defending champions Boston Celtics. They putted up 14 3-pointers as they were knocking them down and made Tony Parker 31 points looked like he was not in the game. It was a Playoff atmosphere in the AT&T Center as both teams was trading points. There was 29 lead changes and 18 ties but in the end the Magic overcome and beat the Spurs 105-98.

The Lakers beat the Heat by 3 points. In their last meeting a buzzer beater by Dwyane Wade gave the Heat the win over the Western leaders. But on Sunday it was a close game as it was a Bynum tip in off a Kobe miss with 18 seconds to go that sealed the Lakers win.

The Celtics 6 points win over the Toronto Raptors end a 4 games skid for the defending champs. The Celtics kicked off the season with a 19-0 runs which came to an end versus the Lakers on Christmas day, since then they have loss 7 of their last 9 games.

Lakers Showing UP

Just six months ago the Celtics taught the Lakers a lesson by coming back from a 20 points deficit to win Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals. All talks about Kobe being like Mike came to a halt, people were beginning to doubt his ability. I mean how can you doubt the skill of 10 times All-Star, All-star MVP, 3 times NBA Champion, League's MVP, All-NBA First Team and All Defensive First Team, I mean he got skills on top skills. But then again people have a mine of the own and they choose who they want to support and who they don't want to support. Anyways, the Christmas rivalry was always a big hit and the Lakers and Celtics are no strangers to this big day's event. As a matter of fact the match was well over anticipated after the Celtics won the Championship. I held my breath throughout the game even though the Lakers had a lead throughout the game it was not a big enough a lead to keep the Celtics out of it. Remember they had let them back in the game in the Finals but this time they stood their course and grind it out. The Celtics on the other hand....well from my stand point....did not bring their A game, maybe they though it would be as easy as it was in the Finals. Well if that was the case they thought wrong cause Kobe and his troops came to play. Kobe got it going from the get go the jumpers were right on target. Everyone stepped up and play, defensively they could have done a better job, but they got the job done in the end. They put an end the fourth longest winning streak in the NBA.

The Hornets were not so lucky as they were railroad by Dwight Howard and the Magic 68-88. Maybe they were blind sighted by that all those Superman t-shirt as the Magic theme for the game was Superman in honor of D12(Dwight Howard) or maybe CP3(Chris Paul) was stage fright playing on Christmas because he was held to just 12 points and 4 assist and marked he did not get a steal ending his 108 consecutive games with a steal. Lebron James and the Cavs rallied back to take the win over the Wizards 93-89. San Antonio Spurs are right back in the mix of things after getting off to a slow start they are now second best in the West. They took on the Suns and with 4 seconds to go in the 4th quarter Roger Mason hit a 3 pointer off a Tony Parker assist to give the Spur a 1 point victory over the Suns. Dallas on the shoulders of Dirk Nowitzki and a strong backcourt led the Mavs 102-94 win over the Portland Trailblazers after Josh Howard was ejected from the games with a Flagrant foul with a little under 5 minutes in the 3rd quarter.

Christmas

Christmas is the time of year were we celebrate peace on earth and goodwill to men. But this Christmas seems weak and boring. The spirit is not in the air so to speak. Normally this time of year there would be singing of carols and decoration, but this year you have to look and listen hard enough to feel or see the spirit of joyful giving and love. The economy has taken it's toll on everyone. There is not enough money to shop and enjoy Christmas the way we use to. For me, I use to love this time of the year, but now it's just another day like any other day. The one thing I will do that I do every Christmas is to reflect on the year that has gone by, my accomplishments and disappointments. I will see what I did wrong and how I can correct them in the year to come. I will set my usual New Year's resolution and steps I need to follow to accomplish my goals and ways not to make the same mistakes that I did in the old year. Usually not all goals that are set will be fulfilled and there will be achievements and disappointments just the same. But to take the new year head on is one thing and being prepare is another thing. As we all know danger comes from the direction we least expect it but when you are prepare for the unexpected, it's easier to overcome obstacles or live them down, cause there is nothing in life that you cannot live down, rise above or overcome. Sometimes we just have to live in the moment while we think about the future. Cause the future is not yet hear and the present is, so live for the moment but always, always keep the future in mind. I know sometimes we think that life is too hard, but when you think about it, it's as hard as we make it to be. Life is LIVE IN FULFILL ENJOYMENT. Sometimes you think there is no hope and that with the failing economy and global warming we as the poor can't make it. But as Mohammed Ali once said "Imagination is the highest kite one can fly, and to be a great champion you must believe you are the best, if you are not, pretend you are". We are all pretenders until it becomes a reality. So even though the spirit of Christmas is a distant feeling this year lets pretend that it is like every other Christmas happy, joyous and peaceful.

Carmelo Making His Presence Felt

Just the night before close friend Lebron James took the spotlight by becoming the Cleveland Cavaliers Franchise record holder for steal recording 735. Last night Carmelo Anthony started the game against Minnesota with just a win in mind. He never planned on making any records just a win would be fine. At the end of the 1st Melo had only 9 points. After 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter Melo took over the game and went on to match George Gervin record of 33 points in a quarter. Gervin scored 33 points for the San Antonio against New Orleans in the 2nd quarter in 1978. Now 30 years later 24 years old Melo stepped up and equal the record. He ended the night with 45 points a season high as the Nuggets beat the Timberwolves 116-105 taking them to 15-7 on the season. With his teammates urging him to go for the record he did so in fine style making a Franchise record and equaling the NBA record.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. These are the word of Martin Luther King, Jr., a Baptist minister who was a driving force for racial equalities in the 1950's and 1960's. He organized a massive march on Washington DC, on August 28, 1963. His partners in the march include other religious leaders, labor leaders, and black organizers. They marched down the Washington Mall from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial. On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, King evoked the name of Lincoln in his "I Have a Dream" speech, which is credited with mobilizing supporters of desegregation and prompted the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The next year, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

He dreamed the dream and many African Americans and Africans around the world started dreaming that same dream. Some have given up hope that the dream will come true and some still carry that dream. I was born 20 years after Martin Luther King, Jr declared his dream to the world. I became apart of the dream. Even though I was not born into slavery I was born into mental slavery, and I too began to dream.

Rosa Parks was arrested because she refuse to give up her seat on a Montgomery Bus to a white passenger. After she was arrested this is what she said "People always say that I didn't give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn't true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was forty-two. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in". she was tired of being second best. The Montgomery bus boycott was also the inspiration for the bus boycott in the township of Alexandria, Eastern Cape of South Africa which was one of the key events in the radicalization of the black majority of that country under the leadership of the African National Congress.

Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Jr a National Hero of Jamaica, a publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, Black nationalist, orator and founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League was the first man of color to lead and develop a mass movement. He was the first man on a mass scale and level to give millions of Negroes a sense of dignity and destiny. And make the Negro feel he was somebody.

Malcolm X, Booker T Washington, Nelson Mandela, and many more have fueled the dream, a dream that have been dreamed for decades. They have paved the way for us and generations to come. Black people have always been outcasts, not because we are unimportant but because we are strong. We have overcome so many obstacles, so many have died fighting the fight we are still fighting today.

Barack Obama born to a Black father from Kenya and a white mother from Kansas. He too had the dream and he too sought to make that dream a reality. He wants to make a change. Over the years we have seems the black race overcome and become dominant forces in societies. But never have we seems a black American President. Obama made that change. In his route to change he stated that "Now make no mistake: the change we need won't come easy or without cost. We will all need to tighten our belts, we will all need to sacrifice and we will all need to pull our weight because now more than ever, we are all in this together". He have given back hope to black poeple across the world.

I believe that the change was already here. I have seen black people made their mark in history. Barack Obama made it clear that we have always been the forerunners, he proved that we are more mighter a race than we think we are, more so he proved that dreams do come true. NBA Season

The NBA season will kick off in a approximately 7 days 7 hours 19 minutes 24 seconds and counting. This seasons will see the rise and fall of some teams I can tell you. You will see teams that are expected to go into the postseason watch from the sidelines and teams that should be watching from the sidelines in the postseason. The preseason is pretty much giving the rookies a chance to prove they can bring it and give guys a chance to play for their spots on the team......not the superstars. Washington Wizards are not having it easy not with Haywood and Arenas out with injuries. They will be leaning to Caron Butler and Antwan Jamison (who just came back from injury) to keep them up until Agent Zero returns to the line up.

Cleveland starts the preseason with a 1-4 which is not expected of the 2007 Eastern champs but I wouldn't count them out cause King James is yet to show what he can do.

The Preseason featured Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns in the first NBA game to be played outdoor for the first time since 1972. Denver won of course. But right now they will have to do without 8 time All-star, MVP Allen Iverson due to injury. There was a rumor that he could be traded. During the summer Denver went through a cost cutting mode and traded Marcus Camby for less to nothing and there are speculation that A.I could be the next big dollar player to go.

New Orleans Hornets starts with a bang 5-0. You Know I think they can go all the way. But that's gonna be tough seeing the West is hard to win. Spurs will be looking to head back to the finals, and Kobe is hoping to lead the West Conference defending champs back to the finals. Also the Suns will be proving they can bring and Utah well I wouldn't count them out. Then there is Dallas and Rockets with the new face Ron Artest.

How could I forget the is the new comer Oklahoma City Thunder. They will try to prove that they roll with the big boys with 13 years veteran Joe Smith and last season rookie sensation Kevin Durant leading the way.

Driver

My son loves cars and he like to think of himself as a driver. Everytime he goes into a car he head for the staring wheel.

His energy level is so high I can hardly keep up with him. He is always on the move. He got his first hair cut. When he got to tha barber, the barber told his father to hold him. His dad said what for. My son got in the chair like a big boy and got his hair cut without a sound. His only intention was to see what it is the barber was doing to his head. He and his dad both got their hair cut.

ACCIDENT

I didn't want to talk about this really. But Antoine's daddy came home from overseas to visit. We went to Montego Bay to take care of some business. He was to take us home and then went back to Montego Bay to pick up someone. On our way to Lucea he was running a little behind time. I told him to slow down which he did. When we reach the location of the new hotel I told him that when he was going back to Montego Bay to drive carefully. He left us at the hairdresser and I was going to send Antoine back with him, cause everytime I take him to the hairdresser with me he turn the place upside down. But then changed my mind. As I sat in the hairdresser's chair he called me and said he is in an accident. I asked if he was okay and he said yes and I asked how bad was it and he said not that serious. So here I was thinking that it was just a minor fender bender. Then I got a call from one of my cousin and she asked me if Marvin was here I told her yes and she said she just passed an accident and heard that the driver was headed to the hospital. I was so shocked that I told the hairdresser to get the cream ot of my head so I can go find out what's happening. When I got there I realize that the accident was more serious than he said. Here I was thinking I could have lost the father of my child and to think if my son was he the car I could have lost him as well. God is good cause he escpaed his death, you should have seen the car. I think it was kind of sign or something cause the accident took place right where I told him to drive carefully on his way back to Montgeo Bay (the hotel). Maybe it was just my bad mouth or a sign. Who knows, but I like to think that everything that's happens in life whether good or bad happens for a reason. So I will wait and see what will follow this incident.

Ron Artest

The Houston Rockets acquired rookies Sean Singletary and Patrick Ewing Jr. and sent veteran Bobby Jackson, promising rookie Donte Greene and a future first-round pick to Sacramento Kings in return for 9 years veteran forward Ron Artest. Artest is a very elite defender and will be effective to any team.

Artest have played for teams such as the Chicago Bulls and Indiana Pacers. He is averaging 2.33 steals and 4 blocks per game. He gained his reputations as one of the premier defenders in the game today, winning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2004. However, he is one of the most controversial players and known for being one of the central figures in the Indiana Pacers-Detroit Pistons brawl.

If you don't know about the biggest brawl in professional basketball history, you don't know about basketball. Okay you don't know, let me give you a breakdown.

Dubbed The Malice at the Palace and the Basketbrawl was an altercation between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons on November 19, 2004. It all started when Ben Wallace was fouled hard by Ron Artest with 45.9 seconds remaining in the game. Wallace hit Artest in the throat followed by physical confrontation with several players of either teams. Artest mocked Wallace by going to the scorer's table and pretend to be doing a radio interview and Wallace threw a hand band at him. A spectator threw a cup of beer at Artest and he responded by running into the stand and mistakenly hitting the wrong person who he thought threw the cup at him. Other spectators got involved as well as players Stephen Jackson who also ran into the stands. Another melee developed after Artest was confronted by fans Alvin "A.J." Shackleford and Charlie Haddad, after which Jermaine Oneal intervene by punching Hadden in the jaw. In a result 9 players where suspended and 5 fans charged and John Green, who threw the cup at Artest, received a lifetime ban from attending Pistons games. Among the players who were suspended were Ron Artest (the rest of the season plus 13 playoffs games), Stephen Jackson (30 games), Jermaine Oneal (25 games, which was reduce to 15 after it was appealed), Chanucey Billups (1 game), Reggie Miller (1 game), Ben Wallace (6 games), Anthony Johnson (5 games), Elden Campbell (1 game) and Derrick Coleman (1 game).

You had to see it to believe it. It was the biggest face off in professional sports history in my book. Here I was enjoying a game on a Friday night when Pacers who I was cheering for was leading with less than a minute to go when the foul was committed which was normal in any basketball game which led to the biggest showdown in NBA history. Indiana won 97-82 but I was no longer a fan of the Pistons. Cause I thought Ben Wallace started it all. I mean he has been fouled hard before but this time he made the losing got to him and it ended in catastrophe. In my opinion Reggie Miller did not deserved to be suspended cause all he did was try to control Ron Artest and Rasheed Wallace who was beyond Pacers time line chattering and cussing should have gotten a suspension and he too went into the stands.

Bolt vs Powell

Yesterday Usain Bolt clocked 9.77 to beat Asafa Powell who clocked 9.83 at the season ending Golden League meet in Brussels. Bolt recovered from a slow start to capture the win. Nester Carter finished third in 10.07 second followed by Micheal Frater in 10.08 seconds. Is Bolt faster than Powell? At this point in time the answer will be yes.

Asafa plans was to be a mechanic but decided to take up athletics after his older brother Donovan made it to the 100m semi-finals in the 1999 World Championships.

Bolt on the other hands was a high school sensation and was given special attention from former Prime Minister PJ Patterson to move to Kingston where he could train with Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association.

When Powell was burning up the track everyone was on his side, everyone cheered him on even when he failed us at some point. But since Usain became the Olympic sprint king we all forgot all about what Asafa Powell did and all that he offered to the sports and to the country. Yes Bolt is now dominating the track and I am so proud of him. But that don't mean I should neglect Asafa. He is still the second fastest man.

I was in the bank on yesterday and the atmosphere was like the Olympics all over again. Some men where discriminating Asafa and one woman jumped up and started accusing them of being wagonists. She stated that no one was chanting Bolt until the Olympics and that they were being unfair to Asafa. And you know what I agree with her 100%. I love them both they are Jamaicans and what they do reflects on us as a Nation. Comparing Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt is like comparing Muhammed Ali to Joe Frazer, Michael Jordon to Kobe Bryant or Tupac to Notorious Big. They are great in their own unique and talented ways.

76ers Stacking up

First it was Elton Brand, now Philadelphia 76ers is adding 17 years veteran Donyell Marshall to their rooster. Marshall played for 7 different teams in the NBA now with the 76ers being the 8th. He was drafted by the Timberwolves in 1994 out of the University of Connecticut, when he was traded mid-season to the Warriors where he did 5 seasons, from there he just bounced around the League. He did 2 seasons with the Jazz, Bulls and Raptors, then 3 seasons with Cleveland and last season with the SuperSonics. Now he will be in Philly where he will again prove his value in the League. His outside shooting has always been phenomenal. His ability to stretch the defense has proven effective. Marshall who is a native of Reading Pennyslvania will have no worries settling in Philly.

The 76ers will prove effective with Marshall occupying the perimeter, Elton Brand ability to post up, Andre Miller with his passing skills, Samuel Dalembert presence to clean up around the basket and Andre Iguodala doing what he does best they will be Playoffs contenders.

Gustav

Well, Gustav dubbed Tropical Storm decided that we got too much gold in the Olympic and thought he should show us a sign. It wasn't has bad as Dean or Ivan but it did do some damage. Some people lost there homes and roads were destroyed. But knowing us we will bounce back we always do cuz we are Jamaicans. At least we were prepared. When Ivan hit phone service was down for about a week and some areas did not get light for about 2-3 weeks. With Dean we lost phone service for 1 day and light was restored in about a week. Now during Gustav we had phone service throughout the whole ordeal and some areas got light the day after. After what happened to us during Gilbert 1988 we have learned a valuable lesson and we have learned from our mistakes. I watch most of Gustav through my window with my son and boy was he excited. When Dean hit us he was 7 months old so he did not see much. Now he is 1 year and 7 months old and he was like "mommy look" everytime a tree bend with the wind. We could see the sea from where we were and each time the waves rushed ashore he would jump back and scream "mommy" as if the waves were about to hit him. It was fun in it's own way.

We are in it to win it. Veronica Campbell-Brown defended her title in the 200m sprint and Kerron Stewart 100m Silver Medalist took the Bronze. It is a glorious glorious time in Jamaica's history. I am proud to be a Jamaican and we have been the best and now we prove it that we are still the best. Our time has come to show non-believers that we are and still will be the best of the best.

4x100m both men and women drop the batton for America, but you know what they say someone has to fall for another to rise. Over the years we have booted by the Americans and for too long we have been in their shadows. Now it's the other way around, now they know what it is like to be on the back burner. I guess we had them so worried. In Athens 2004 the ladies fail to pass the batton and now they drop it not once but twice....oops butter fingers. Soup, soup, pressure, pressure.

By di way the whola wi need fi back offa Asafa. It's not easy loosing 2 brothers in 1 year and then having your father shot. No it's not easy at all. So lef di man and mek im prosper.

Sherone she had a bad lane, but ran with all her might. I am still proud of her and don't forget she already gave us a silver.........unno too licky licky.

Maurice Wignall and Richard Phillips did their best and only your best is good enough. Disappointed....yes, but I am still proud.

We have been waiting for this for years and now it's finally here. Jamaica's only problem is crime. We have some of the most talented, loving people in the world. Have you ever notice that no flag have our colour or our design, every flag has the colour red, blue or white and strips but none shape like ours and none have the colour black, green and gold. Wow, wow and wow......what else can I say. This weekend was one of the best in
Jamaica's history. Usain Bolt ran the race of his life and made his country proud and he did it in fine style by breaking his World Record and Olympics Record....how cool is that. By doing so he became the first Jamaican 100m sprinter to win Gold and he will be looking to become the first man since 1984 to win the Olympic sprint double.

Shelly-Ann Fraser, Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart again made history with a rare sweep to become first athletes to win gold-silver-silver of the 100m. wow, wow, and wow again.

We had this in us all along and now we have shown the world what we are made of. Something that started decades ago by Donald Quarrie, Herb Mckinley, Merlene Ottey, Juliet Cuthbert, and many more. In an event (100m) that was dominated by the Americans where we were force to settle for second best, we are now proving that we own it and will for a long time to come. The Americans are protesting that Tori Edwards false started, but the truth of the matters is that they are ashame. We put them to shame in the 4x100m relay in Athens in 2004 and we did it again in style and made history.

Ever since that anti-doping clamp down on the athletes America is losing dominance in the sprint event....I don't know if ya'll notice but I did. Remember when we just couldn't get gold and we had to sit the pain of hearing the American National Anthem over and over again, that was.....I won't even say the word, but you get the picture. Now since all this drugs testing a whole lot of athletes who were winners are now been seen as losers. And Americans sprinters top the list, now that they can't dope up they are losing to who.....the country who had to settle for second best. So you see it's not that we couldn't do it, it's just that the winners had an extra boost. Maybe if they were testing back then as much they are doing now.....maybe we would have seen a gold-silver-bronze from Merlene Ottey, Juliet Cuthbert and Grace Jackson.

I am disappointed in Asafa Powell, who wouldn't be. Physically he is ready, but mentally his is not. What else is there to say he said so himself after the race. But despite it all he is Jamaican and I am proud of him. He helped put us back on the map although we would love to see a gold medal from him, at the end of the day he is Jamaican.

It's times like these that make me proud to be a Jamaican. I am always a proud Jamaican, don't get me wrong. But it's performances like these show the world that we are more than crime and violence. Jamaica is blessed land and if we will all wise up and see that we will be a better Nation. Our athletes have made us proud and gave us something to brag about and we will be bragging for a long time. Jamaica Land We Love!!!

Olympics Testing

Asafa Powell was tested four times and he thinks that they are overdoing it. Well he is not the one I mean tested four times.....that is ridiculous. How do they expect him to perform after they finish with him....maybe they don't expect him to perform at all. They have been questioning our superb performances for quite a while now. They tried it with Merlene Ottey and now they are targeting our Asafa and Usian. When Usian first hit the World Record on Jamaican soil the US Micheal Johnson stated that we don't have the technology to determine accuracy and that he don't trust that Usian is that fast. Well, Usian proved him wrong and where better to do so than on American soil. Jamaica has produced many athletic champions over the years and none as been dubbed steroid user. Well maybe if you include Ben Johnson.....he ran for Canada and he was their pride and joy until the mention of steroids and they disowned him. I just hope Asafa holds his ground cuz I am looking for Gold and Silver in the 100m. I don't care who win Gold cuz whether it be Usian or Asafa I will be celebrating either way.

NBA Off-Season

Who will win Rookie of the year? My bet is on Michael Beasley of the Miami Heats who has a big upside for the Heats. Other guys like Derrick Rose or O.J Mayo could give him a run for it.

Will the Celtics repeat? Well for one they are looking to add more depth to their bench and is said to be in talks with Corey Maggette.

How will the Knicks fix their problem? After last year's disaster they decided that it was time for a change, starting by getting rid of Isiah Thomas and replacing him with Mike D'Antoni (who I might add had great success with the Suns). They also sign Chris Duhon which I think will signify the end of Stephon Marbury. Their next move is to let Jerome James, Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph go.

Will Kobe demand another trade? Last summer Kobe got sick of being a one man show and demanded to be traded. Well nothing came of it but instead of being a cry baby he showed why he is one the best by copping the MVP. I think he will remain with the Lakers next season.

Preparation for 2010? In anticipation for 2010 many Teams are already working diligently to get under the salary cap. By then Lebron James will be an unrestricted free agent and the Cavaliers will be working to avoid that. According to rumors LeBron will not resigned with Cleveland. LeBron has a desire to play in the big city, the Mecca of basketball so New York could be his first choice or he will choose the Nets due to his close friendship with Nets shareholder Hip Hop sensation Jay-Z.

My Brother a Cop

He is my only brother and the only son for both mother and father. We are the same mother and father as well as my older sister. Our mother died 10 years ago and we have been like his second mother. He is a proud father's dream. He did a song "I want to be like you" in which he was referring to his father Master P. He is attending USC (University of Southern California) where he plays basketball. His dad wanted to play in the NBA but did not accomplished that......I guess he will be fulfilling that for his dad. He (Master P) did however had contracts with Charlotte Hornets (currently New Orleans Hornets) 1998/1999 season and Toronto Raptors 1999 pre-season. He also played in Continental Basketball Association (CBC). Master P is an Entertainer and Entrepreneur and he is also the founder and CEO of P. Miller Enterprises . Okay, back to Lil' Romeo ......he not only play basketball like his dad , but he is also an Entertainer and CEO of P. Miller Clothing Line. He is the nephew of C-Murder and Silk the Shocker and his clothes line made over US$50m in the first year he has 5 Albums , been in 10 movies, star in the sitcom Romeo and he is only 18 (19 next month). He also beat Micheal Jackson to become the youngest person to record a #1. Yeah, sure being the son of Master P helps but is he talented or what. I think he will be heading to the NBA no doubt . He played basketball for Beverly Hills High School where he was a 4 yrs starter and during the 2006-2007 high school season he averaged 13.9 points and 5.6 assists per game. I have never seen him play but I guess he must be pretty good to have been invited to the ABCD Camp. For those of you who don't know what the ABCD Camp is, it is an invitational only camp to showcase basketball based in New Jersey. Players like Kobe Byrant, Lebron James, Tracy McGrady and Carmelo Anthony have been previous attendees. I will just to see how far he will go in basketball, if he will surpass his father.

New York Knicks

Can they get better? I don't know. One of the league's hottest team in the early years and 1 of 2 teams still in their original cities (Boston being the Second). They made it to the Finals 3 times in the 1950's, won the Title 2 times in the 70's and try for the Title 2 times in the 90's, now they are lucky if they get to the Playoffs......what a shame. Last season they were 23-59 well that was better than Miami who was the 2006 Champion (15-67).

Now that they have Elton Brand will that be enough to revive one of the oldest teams in the NBA. I don't think so, but I will be watching to see what happens......no doubt.

Reggae Boyz

1998 we made it to the World Cup for the first time in history, wow. I never knew much about football(soccer) at the time, I didn't even knew we had a football team....how sick is that. With fresh talent and the help of Reno Simoes we made it. The Boyz did not go all the way but I was so proud of them, you know they took us to a place we have never been and all Jamaica was with them. But the JFF did not see it that way they fired Simoes. Well, disaster shook in 2002, the Boyz were playing for international clubs and making money and the chemistry and eagerness to win was not there and we didn't even come close. Same saga in 2006.

Rene Simoes is back for 2010 and he did what he did for 1998 get some fresh meat. I hope they can fine the chemistry and bring us back to the World Cup.

Jermaine O'neal - Traded

Toronto Raptors get some fire power with Jermaine O'neal. He was the back bone for Indiana Pacers after Reggie Miller, he lead them in most blocked shots in a game 10 vs the Raptors, most blocked shots in a season 228 (2000 -01), most rebounds a game, playoffs 22, Highest rebounding average, playoff series 17.5 and most free throws attempted, game 25. He is 6 times All-star and Most Improved Player in 2002. He is also the only player to score a triple-double including block shot, he had 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots vs the Raptors (he was the second Pacers player to do so and the first in the NBA). He is a very talented and under-rated player. Sure he is no Shaquille O'neal or Tim Duncan, but very valuable to any team. He can score at will, beat off the dribble, pass, and he is an excellent post up player. Combine his agility to that of Chris Bosh Toronto will be a force to reckon with in the low post area. If he and Chris Bosh stay healthy then Toronto stand a chance in the playoffs. Now, I am not talking about winning the Championship (anything is possible), but they will have Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, etc to reckon with. And i have a feeling that Miami will be back next season with D. Wade healthy and all. I guess we will have to wait and see. I should have him in my hot boyz list, but oh well he is hot.

Let's talk movie......so many movies have been released since the start of the year and to be honest some of these movies are unwatchable...you know what I mean. I haven't the time or money to go to the Theatre to watch some of these sorry excuse for a movie. I am very peculiar when it comes to movies and I rather wait till it hits cable or whatever before I waste my money to watch some stupid overrated movie. But I have to say some of the releases for this year appealed to my movie senses. Wanted and Hancock I would say got the better of me, mainly because I am a Angelina Jolie and Will Smith fan. But the one that really got me going is Batman: The Dark Knight....boy is this movie a hit or what. I am a Batman fan and a sucker for superhero movies. I am going to see this one when it comes out......I know I said it's a waste of money, but this one I am willing to waste my money on. Christian Bale...I can hardly wait, besides it's Heath Ledger's last movie and I will not get to attend the funeral so I might I will pay my respect by going to the movies. There is another reason why I would like to see this movie but if I tell you I might have to kill you, lol. Anyways, I am going to see this movie if it's the last thing I do and seeing it in 'boothleg' is not my idea of a good movie no matter how action pack it is. So see you at the movies....oh and you will be buying the popcorns, lol.

Family - a group of people related by blood, marriage or adoption.

The Atlan Family is normal, dysfunctional, and happy family. We are energetic, jovial and loving, and we all have our own unique and different ways. And, like any other typical family we argue and disagree all the time. That's what makes us a happy family. For 2 weeks we had 1 of our family reunions, it was a get together for my Grandaunt Elfeda Atlan was became 105 in April of this year. We also attend my brother's graduation from the Police Academy. All 6 of my father's sisters were here and that was hell. They are the most amazing Aunt's anyone could ask for. But they can be confusing, they all have different opinions and ways of doing things. One will tell you do this and another will say do it another way and it is annoying and confusing when you have 6 persons telling you to do the same task 6 different ways....you get the picture. But we never get bored hearing them disagree, I think that's what keeps them so close and that in turn keeps the whole family close. We have all hear the term 'the family that prays together stay together' well my family is so close that we do everything together even getting sick together.

This my month my birthday is due soon and I will be half way to 50.....you figure out the rest. The NBA season has ended and Olympic is right around the corner......yahhooo. Will Jamaica win the gold in the 100m, well my intuition tells me yes. Will America live down the shame of 2004 Olympic on the basketball court, hell yeah, Kobe, D.Wade, LeBron, Carmelo, Amare Stoudamire what is going to stop them....nothing. I can't wait to see Afassa Powell and Lighting Bolt mash up di place. Too bad we won't have a repeat from Veronica Campbell, but the ladies who will be representing looks like they can bring it so we will have to wait and see.

23 long years of waiting. I was 2 yrs and 11 months old at the time what did I know then nothing, nada. But check Rajon Rondo was only 3 months old and here he is helping Boston to it's 17th win.
They deserves to celebrate, they played great basketball and they executed will. Kevin Garnett can rest better now that he have the most priceless hardware an NBA player can hope to possess and so do Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Hey and Rajon Rondo how cool is that your first year in the NBA and you won a Champion....and not only was he on the team he helped them win. He must be ecstatic cuz I know I would. I am not a Celtics fan and that no secret but I am willing to give respect where it is due. Besides they were expected to win from the start of the season it would have been very disappointing if they did not. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen have been Champions their whole career, now they have the hardware to prove it. Way to guys congratulations.

Now as for the Lakers they gave up without even fighting back....that's a shame. I think they fought for Game 5 cuz they did not want Boston to win in their home court and I think Boston wouldn't have it any other way. Why they lost? I don't know I thought they were playing great until somewhere along the line open shots where not going down and they did not execute down the stretch. Oh well, you win some and then you lose some. Do I think Lakers less of a ball club...no. They had a great season it's just wasn't their time that's all. Do I think less of Kobe.....hell to the no. Check this out. He is League's MVP, 10 times All-Star, 2 times All-Star MVP, 3 times All NBA First Team, 2 times All Defensive First Team, 3 times NBA Champion now how many players have accomplished this a lot and then again not a lot. Did we think less of Allen Iverson when he lossed in 2001, or did we think less of Tracy McGrady even though he fails to lead his team pass the first round, oh did we think less of Jason Kidd when his team got swept 2 years in a row at the Finals, no. Then maybe we thought less of Dirk Nowitzki when his made Miami came back from 2-0 to win the Championship, oh so you still love these guys and still they are considered to be some of the best and greatest that the League has produced. What I am getting at is that Kobe is still one of the greatest Basketball players of all times. So he lost, well best team for this season won and it's not like they weren't expected to win or that they were underdogs...they were suited for the win form the get go. But will they be back next season, now that's the million dollar question. Not many teams can be hot one year and come hot the next. Yeah Boston did 8 years in a row that was then this now, they don't have good old Red and the guys who played back then. Sure they have Keven Garnett, Paul Peirce and Ray Allen and yeah Rajon Rondo, but do they have what it takes to be back next year. That we will definitely have to wait to see. Until next season.

Can They Win?

That's a tough question. Cuz they will be going to Boston and the fans there can be very boisterous. Yeah they can so Lakers will be needing a cool head and team work. They made a big come back in Game 5, but can they do the same in Game 6. Mmmm.....do you think they can...what was that Game 7 too. Oh no not yet we have to worry about Game 6 first....slow your roll one game at a time. It's not over until Game 6 over and we will just have to wait until then to see the outcome. Lakers are looking to make history...the first team to come from 3-1 to win. Do they have the talent, experience, confidence and endurance to win? Well as I said before we will just have to wait.....tick,tock. It is going to take a hugh effort to win, everyone will have to step up...no 2, 3 guys doing it big, everybody especially the bench. Team Work that's what it is going to take.

Kobe should no longer be compared to MJ

Stop comparing Kobe to MJ…why? Why stop now, just because he fail to produce the win in Game 4? MJ had Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippens, Luc Longley, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper and Toni Kukoc when he was winning his Championships. In Kobe’s previous titles he had Shaquille O’neal, Rick Fox, Derek Fisher, Robert Horry, Brian Shaw and Ron Harper (anything familiar about the list of names). Who does he have now who could be classed as experience and veteran only Derek Fisher. Boston on the other hand have Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Sam Cassell. I am not looking for an excuse as to why they lost Game 4 cause there is none. But the NBA has been based on history. When you watch the games the commentators compare players and talk about the history of the teams. So because L.A did not win game 4 Kobe should stop be compared to the Legendary MJ. If that’s the case then KG should not be compared to Bill Russell, Chris Paul should not be compared to Magic Johnson or Isiah Thomas, and neither should Lebron or Wade be compared to MJ. You know why they have not accomplish what Kobe has accomplished. Okay take a look at history….Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone just to name a few. These players are Hall of Famers and will go down as some of the great players to ever play the game of basketball. Yet still they fell short every single time, they have never won a Championship but still they are the best. Young players are being compared to them and want to be like them. So why should Kobe stop being compared to MJ, I don’t see why.

Kobe did not asked to be compared to MJ, he state he wants to be the best. Every player in the NBA wants to be the best, they wants to be the go to guys. But not every players accomplish that. We are the ones who said Kobe is like Mike. We did not hear him say he wants to be like Mike. So leave the guy alone. Most players can only wish they could play as good as Kobe. Hey...no matter what we say there are kids out there who wants to be Kobe and who wants to be better than Kobe. His career is not over because he lost Game 4 in the 2008 Finals, he can win ring #4 another season. Kevin Garnett is yet to win a ring. You know what's ironic we all say Kobe had to have Shaq to win. But guess what Kevin Garnett have been trying to win and if he did not team with Pierce and Allen he would still be in Minnesota watching Kobe trying to gain his 4th ring. One player don't make a team if that was the case Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Patrick Ewing and Karl Malone would all have several rings. More so guys in the league today would also have rings...guys like Steve Nash, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, even Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. This is just my opinion from a realistic point of view.

On the other hand, I was disappointed cause I was cheering for the Lakers to win....who wouldn't be. But it's all apart of the game some have to lose in order for some to win. Hey I bet if Lakers had won and went on to win the Championship we would then be asking the same questions of the Boston Celtics. LOL , it's the way of life...funny ain't it, yeah I know we have to disagree to agree. Remember how we (yes we cause I have said it) use to say that Kobe was selfish, yeah...you remember don't you. Well he changed all that starting with his Jersey #, and he is the League's MVP. The current Kobe passes the ball and look to make his teammates better., while the previous Kobe would look for his shot everytime the ball touches his hands. The result of the new and improve Kobe is that his is less aggressive, more into passing, and he is not trying to be the player who touches the ball last on his team. That my friends I think slows him down. You know what I would love to see #8 in game 5. Kobe has accomplished so much when he was selfish. So what he did not stand a chance for the League's MVP then, a lot guys didn't and they are Hall of Famers.

Long Time Wi No Chat

It's been a long time since my last post. I was too busy I guess. Where is my manners, hey everyone. How are you? Fine....me too. So what's up, nothing out of the ordinary. I don't even know what to write about....ha-ha. Let's see oh yes let me give an update on my source of happiness, my world and my everything. Stop it! Your mind is too smotty I was talking about my son what was in your mind....nasty. Anyways, he is getting big and I can hardly manage him, he is like a source for energy. I think that if the current is off I can use him for a generator if you get the picture. Too bad I don't have such energy cause he is driving me crazy. But on the real he is keeping me on my toes at all times. One day I was inside and all of a sudden the house was quiet and I was like okay where did all the noise go. So I called Antoine and he did not answer so I went to look for him. I had locked the grill and the kitchen door to keep him from going outside. However I forgot to lock the bathroom door seeing that he hardly go in there anyways. Apparently I wrong, he wanted to go outside so bad that he found a way out by all means. I got so afraid cause I didn't know where he was. Then I heard my grandmother said "see him here". He was outside heading to the gate when I went after him he started to run 'an yu wan see him likkle foot dem'. I was mad but the way he ran I had to laugh. Sometimes he does stuff that gets me upset and I can't get angry cause he knows how to get on my good side. And to think he is only 1 year old. He is so smart sometimes I am in awe at how he reacts to things. One day I was pretending to cry he was so upset he tried to dry my eyes with his shirt and when I didn't stop he placed his hands on my cheek and looked in my eye and said "mama" and some other baby talk and was about to start crying, so I had to stop. Sometimes I wonder how did I get a son so smart for his tender age, and I love him so much. If you knew him you would too. That's it for now and by the way his Dad and I are back together...well sort of....no I am not going to tell you about it. Not now anyways that's another story for another time. Sometimes unno too fast and nosy......hahaha....later.

Valentine's Day

What a day everyone in red and white....wow! The day of love they call it. Well to some this is just any other day. Here I am at work like any other work day, ready to take on the stress and excitement that comes with it. But unlike everyone one else I am not daydreaming about tonight. Most people are dreaming about the romantic dinner, party, a night on the town or maybe just a quite night at home with their significant other. Me on the other hand is thinking about son, budget and other unimportant things not related to this day.

Truth of the matter is that I have no one to share a romantic dinner, or party with. Sad...you say. Well maybe it is sad but on the bright side I love being single. No one to nag me about where I'm going, where I've been, and so on. Oh what the heck....the truth is as much as I like being alone sometimes it gets a little boring. I love the whole romantic gestures and all that comes with it and sometimes I miss all that and I do get lonely. But what a girls to do but suck it up and go, being without a man is not the end of the world. So I am using this time alone to work on me cause you can't love someone unless you love yourself...ain't that right.

I don't pray and ask God for a man. I pray for peace, health and happiness. And when God see it fix to give me a man he will give me a good one. I rather be alone than be unhappy. I love to laugh and if a man can't make me happy then what's the use. What is love without joy? Maybe today Cupid will let his arrow works magic for me, maybe he won't, but at the end of the day I am still me.

What is love? To me love is when you can forgive someone when they did you wrong and not hold a grudge. Love brings peace and happiness.

Love is pure, Love is sure, Love is a sickness no doctor can cure.

The New Year is here and it feels like the middle of the year alright. God, this is bad. Well so far my year is not good...work wise. It's getting to me as is this whole system that we live in. But...I will continue to live each day as it is the last.

The good thing since the start of the year is that my son turn 1 yrs old on the 9th. I had to work so I keep a party on Sunday...well not really a party just some fun stuff for him. (It is said if you keep a party for your child's first birthday you have to continue to keep it until they are 16 yrs old or else they will have bad luck) That's just superstition, but I aight keeping it, lol. I don't care go ahead call me superstitious.....lol.

My God, it's the end of the year....time sure do fly. Well, I just have to thank out Lord and Savior from another year. A lot have happened this last year....so many things to change and so many things to be thankful for. My New Year resolution is to live a more peaceful and loving life. I want to be a better person than I was for 2008. Not that I was bad, but I want to right all the wrong and and make my good better.

For me Christmas is a time to celebrate, have fun and spend joy and happiness. I had a wonderful time with my family and friends. It was my son's first Christmas and I had to make sure that he had a great time, even though he might not remember it.
